Drivers of electric vehicles now have a free charging station at the Carson City Community Center, thanks to a partnership between the Governor’s Office of Energy, NV Energy and Carson City Public Works.

Carson City murder suspect kills himself in standoff with Reno police

Murder suspect Michael Dylan Brentlinger was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Reno park after a standoff with police there, confirms Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

A man has been found shot and possibly dead in a Reno park, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said. The man may be the suspect in Saturday's fatal shooting.

Carson City Sheriff's Office detectives are on their way to Reno this afternoon. It is believed the suspect in Saturday morning's killing, Brentlinger, was found shot, possibly fatally self-inflicted, in the area of 630 Manzanita in Reno.

Carson City sheriff's deputies continue to search for a 22-year-old man who is suspected of shooting one person dead and injuring a 19-year-old woman at a Carson City home early Saturday morning. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said suspect, Michael Dylan Brentlinger, 22, is considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect is thought to be driving a white 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier NV/948XAT, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office. The RAVEN helicopter from Washoe County has been called in to help with the search.

UPDATE: The search for Brentlinger has been widen outside of Nevada into California and Idaho, the sheriff said.
"This isn't based on specific information but a matter of expanding the investigation," said Furlong.
All those involved in the investigation are being cooperative, he added. Investigators believe Brentlinger is armed with a .45 semi-automatic firearm.

Carson City Sheriff deputies are searching for a suspect wanted in connection to a shooting in the 2800 block of Carmine Street that left one person dead and another injured.

Deputies are looking for Michael Dylan Brentlinger, 22. The suspect is thought to be driving a white 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier NV/948XAT, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office. The RAVEN helicopter from Washoe County has been called in to help with the search.

Update: The search for the suspect has moved back to Carson City. Earlier reports of the suspect being at large in Douglas County were due to a mistaken phone number that deputies were tracking. If you see the suspect or the vehicle call 911.

According to Sheriff Kenny Furlong, Brentlinger allegedly shot his girlfriend in the face, and killed the girl's father during a "massive fight" at the residence on Carmine between Nichols and Bunch Way early this morning. Brentlinger was recently in custody at the Carson City Jail on charges of assaulting the female victim in this case.

Woman dies, driver hurt in single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 95 north of Hawthorne

A woman died Friday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Mineral County north of Hawthorne on U.S. Highway 95, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The woman, a passenger, was ejected and died at the accident scene, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. The accident was reported at 8:14 a.m., approximately 23 miles north of Hawthorne.

Preliminary details of the incident indicate a brown 1966 Chevrolet pickup was traveling north on the two-lane highway when the male driver allowed his vehicle to depart its lane of travel, said Allen.

State urges Carson City, Douglas County valley residents not to burn due to poor air quality

The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection is asking people in the Eagle and Carson Valleys to refrain from burning wood this week during a period of stagnant air. Where wood is the only option, people should burn as cleanly as possible.

Strong temperature inversions and stagnant weather conditions can cause air pollution levels to increase rapidly in the valleys of Carson City and Douglas County.
