Manhunt for Carson City murder suspect spreads, injured woman in shooting expected to live

The 22-year-old man believed to have shot and killed a Carmine Road man and critically wounded his daughter remains at large Monday with Carson City law enforcement puzzled by his whereabouts.
Michael Dylan Brentlinger, 22, is suspected of using a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol to kill a Carmine Road man early Saturday morning. Brentlinger is also believed to have shot in the face and critically wounded his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend. She remains in intensive care at Renown Medical Center in Reno. She is expected to live.
"This guy has vanished. We don't know where he's at. We don't know if he could have harmed himself. There is no indications either way. But we believe he is on the run, armed and either believes he killed two people if he doesn't have access to TV or the press, or one person if he has seen anything about it," said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Law agencies throughout Nevada and the western states have been alerted of the suspect, his vehicle and the murder investigation, Furlong said. It is believed Brentlinger may have fled to Idaho where he used to live.
"We need everybody out there to keep their eyes out for him. I consider this person extraordinarily dangerous," said Furlong.
Brentlinger is thought to be driving a white 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier NV/948XAT. Information received Sunday suggests the vehicle may or may not have plates on the vehicle but instead may have a temporary paper plate tag on the front window.
Furlong cautioned the public from interacting with Brentlinger if they should see him and should instead call 911. He also said that if anyone has information on his whereabouts they can call Secret Witness, 775-322-4900 or go here.
It was learned Brentlinger had once lived at the Carmine Street residence but was told to move out. He was arrested Dec. 5 on charges of trespassing after returning to the home. He also had a restraining order placed on him by his ex-girlfriend to not come near the residence. Brentlinger was fired recently from the Nevada DMV.
Asked if he thought the killing was pre-meditated, Furlong said "common sense would indicated this was a planned event since it took place at such an early morning hour, when people would normally be asleep and that it happened inside a home. These would suggest that this was a planned event and he had a weaspon."
The woman, who remains in ICU at Renown, is being closely guarded, said Furlong, saying that how she survived a shot to the face was "an act of God."
Her name has not been released nor has the man who was fatally shot.
