Orange Lake Resorts, home to the Holiday Inn Club Vacations brand, has announced the acquisition of the historic 1862 David Walley’s Hot Springs Resort and Spa in Genoa, Nevada from 1862, LLC and other affiliates of Summer Winds Resorts.

Well Being Massage and Functional Fitness in Carson City celebrated its grand re-opening Saturday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, Carson City Supervisor Lori Bagwell and members of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.

WELL BEING Massage and Functional Fitness (http://www.carsoncityfitness.com) is celebrating its new location at 1851 S Roop St, #145 in Grand Opening Style on SATURDAY October 6th, from 8 am until 1 pm. The business is owned and run by Brad and Alina Paula and offers a complete health and fitness experience including massage, personal training, group classes, obstacle course and other specialty training programs, and nutritional coaching. The couple has been in business in Carson City for four years but only (since the first of the year) recently at their new space.

Realty Executives in Carson City cut the ribbon to its new location Thursday with the Carson City Chamber of Commerce. A grand opening and client appreciation party was held concurrently, showcasing the new Realty Executives office located at 800 E. College Parkway, the former site of Lumos and Associates.

The Salvation Army of Carson City will host the free “Lunch and Learn” estate planning and charitable giving seminar Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Local accredited estate planning attorney, Cedric W. Anderson, and Salvation Army gift planning director, Mitch McConkey, will lead the discussion, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A free lunch will be provided to all attendees.

A Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening ceremony was held for the new Farmers Insurance - Bonkowski location Thursday evening.

Car lovers have two shows to choose from today: spectators will be able to enjoy both, but you’ll have to pick one if you want to enter your ride. Keep reading for more summertime fun.

I’m not even going to speculate on the air quality, but please use your best judgement when choosing your activities and there may be some cancellations that I am not aware of. Downtown has a full day of options, but the back roads may be a little more difficult to navigate due to construction projects. The great music that awaits will be worth the hassle. Tazmanian Boxing Club, which has distinguished itself over past few years as more than a boxing gym, has moved to a new and much larger location at 3737 North Carson Street in Carson City.

Breakfast fans will rejoice, the popular Squeeze In restaurant known in Reno and Truckee, as well as locations now in California, will be coming to Carson City inside the new downtown development being built for retail and residential spaces on Curry Street.

The fourth annual Sassabration is happening now through Saturday evening in the parking lot of Carson Hot Springs Resort, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

The 11-hour diversity festival, co-hosted this year by Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, Carson Hot Springs Resort, and Shoe Tree Brewing Company, started at noon Saturday and runs until 10 p.m. tonight.

The Jump Around Carson transit system permanently relocated its administrative office and bus yard to the former site of the Carson City Animal Shelter.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center, a faith-based charitable organization serving the area's most needy residents, has moved to a new location at 3579 U.S. Highway 50 East, Suite 211, in the iStorage commercial center.

The Carson City Republican Party invites all Republicans in Carson City to our meeting Thursday night. Our guest speakers for the evening will be Craig Mueller and Wes Duncan who are both running for Attorney General. We will also discuss how the party is preparing for the general election in November. Please note this is a new location.

As I write this, the snow has not yet begun to fall. I cannot predict whether we’ll see one inch or seven inches on the valley floor over the next few days, but wet roads make for a more dangerous journey. Please stay safe out there.
