Parents and their children ages 8 to 12 are invited to come up to the Comstock town of Silver City for fun activities about Space Exploration Science and NASA.

The event takes place Tuesday, June 28 from 10am to noon at the Silver City Schoolhouse at 385 High Street, Silver City, Nevada 89428. Email Quest Lakes at quest@hcclsc.org to reserve your child’s spot at this free event.

The premiere card is free and works like a regular library card, with extra access to special items such as the NASA Explorer Backpacks now being offered by the Carson City Library.

RENO — Winter snows are accumulating in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, creating the snowpacks that serve as a primary source of water for the western U.S. However, due to rising average temperatures, snowpacks in the Great Basin appear to be transitioning from seasonal, with a predictable amount and melt rate, to “ephemeral,” or short-lived, which are less predictable and only last up to 60 days.

Shoot the Moon: Lunar rocks displayed at Carson City Library

Rhiannon Hughey, 16, has always had an affection for geology, but now her hobby is out of this world.
