Join Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery, LLC for our 9th Annual Jewelry and Chocolate show this Saturday, Feb. 8. This year more than 8 jewelers are creating one-of-a-kind creations for you. Many, many new pieces will be on hand for you to try on and take home. the artists will be here through out the day to meet our community and talk about their creations.

Heading into the Veterans Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days. Events include live comedy, art and heater, multiple holiday craft fairs around Carson City and Carson Valley as well as several Veterans Day ceremonies and offers of gratitude to vets and active duty members of the U.S. military on Monday. This course will teach you to make some amazing holiday creations out of books, including trees and ornaments. You'll even learn how to light up your creations! In addition to the $25 registration fee, a $40 supply fee is due to the instructor at the start of the course.

Come and learn how to make book art jewelry from the artists of My Thousand Words, Rachael and Debbie Lambin. There are two classes offered, pick which one you like. Hope to see you!

The events are Friday, July 26 from 6:30 to 830 p.m. and Saturday, July 27, 2-4pm at Western Nevada College.

Students will be learning to make jewelry from books and magazines and enjoying wearing beautiful recycled jewelry that doesn't look like it is recycled at all.

Good morning Carson City, and happy Saturday! It'll be a bit warmer than yesterday with a high of 86 and a low of 51, and you can expect a bit of a breeze with 13 mph winds.

There's a lot going on today in our beautiful Capital City, with day two of Epic Rides, the Carson City Airport Open House and Wing Cook-off, the farmer's market, a youth expo, and more.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area to help the next three days breeze by. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, plus the Nevada State Museum will host 2 behind the scenes tours in natural history and anthropology. Plus, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road kicks off its three-day event with a Capital 15 Fun Ride and Free Clunker Crit Ride. Heading into the evening, “Newsies” will take stage at the Carson City Community Center and you can sit under the stars and watch “The Little Rascals” at 8 p.m. during movie night at John Mankins Park.

Come and join Rachael and Debbie Lambin of My Thousand Words this Saturday, June 29 as they teach you to make a beautiful flower vase that is both 3D as well as 2D.

Students will make paper flowers (3D) and paint a vase to put them in on a canvas lots of fun! The event is from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Western Nevada College's Carson City campus, second floor of the Aspen Building.

Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. Easter weekend has officially begun, and on the docket today we have the Underwater Easter Egg Hunt, the Carson Mall Candy Walk, a wildflower walk through King’s Canyon, and more!

Good morning Carson City. It is Thursday, April 4, 2019. As matters at the legislature continue, we are winding up for another weekend full of activities, including the downtown wine walk and a bevy of shows at the Brewery Arts Center. We may see some showers today, Friday and early Saturday, typical for the early days of spring. Stay tuned.

Join Debbie and Rachael Lambin, creators of "My Thousand Words," to learn to make beautiful art out of old books. This special springtime class will teach you to make a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a folded book to hold them. Use it to grace your table for Easter or decorate your home office!

October in Northern Nevada means more than Nevada Day. There are also outhouse races, fall festivals and Oktoberfests; all three of which are happening this first weekend of October around the region.

It’s time for a new week, but unfortunately, the air conditions are just more of the same. The summer’s wildfire season just seems to be getting worse. As the smoky air settles in the valley, you’ll need to be much more cautious about your outdoor activity. Let Chili’s take care of dinner tonight, it’s too hot to cook anyway, and you’ll be helping the Northern Nevada Dream Center raise funds to assist those less fortunate. Kids can beat the heat at the Carson City Library with the Happy Notes program, just make sure you register first: space is limited.

Celebrations of Cinco de Mayo, traditionally a Mexican observance of its victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, and kick-off to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read program, featuring the theme "True Grit," were held together Saturday at the Carson City Library.

I’m sending good thoughts to those in the California fire zones: with as bad as the smoke is here, I can only imagine how bad their eyes burn. Free ice cream and a concert featuring the Capital City Community Band can be found tonight at the First United Methodist Church on King Street. You’ll find free pool, a nice beer selection, and great drinks at Remedy’s Bar on Williams Street tonight. Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery celebrates the paper and book sculptures of mother-daughter team, My Thousand Words, at a meet and greet reception tonight. Keep reading for a plethora of ways to spend the day.
