Carson City sheriff's log: Arrests made for burglary, DUIs and battery involving pepper spray
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 03/02/2015 - 1:34pmTwo people, a 39-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were arrested Saturday in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road in Carson City on suspicion of felony burglary. Arrested were Deeanna Sue Byars and James Thomas Rebelez. Each are being held on $20,000 bond, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, at approximately 2 p.m. an officer was dispatched to 3200 Market Street, Walmart, for a petit larceny report. The officer learned the suspects were walking down Hot Springs Road.

Carson City sheriff's SET team arrests two with more than 10 pounds of marijuana
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 02/06/2015 - 8:32amA traffic stop Thursday night led the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team to more than 10 pounds of marijuana and the arrests of two people.
Arrested were Derek Peterson, 24, and Maile Daugherty, 20, both of Carson City. Each face felony charges of possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and trafficking marijuana. Peterson also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. His bail amount is $23,699. Daugherty's bail amount was set at $22,500.

IRS audited his returns and used the “ledgers” Olive produced at trial to compute his gross income in 2004 and 2005. His gross receipts for 2004 per the ledgers were $1,968,000 and 2005 gross receipts were $3,302,000.
Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Suspects jailed on assault, stalking and warrant charges
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 11/23/2014 - 12:20pmA 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday on felony charges, battery with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Christoper Matthew Couch is being held on $35,000 bail. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the 3800 block of South Carson Street regarding two people arguing. Dispatch advised they were getting several 911 calls and one of the reporting witnesses said one of the men hit the other.
Medical marijuana provisional approvals announced
Submitted by editor on Mon, 11/03/2014 - 12:45pmThe Division of Public and Behavioral Health on Monday notified medical marijuana establishment applicants of the results of the Division’s rigorous evaluation process to determine provisional certification to operate a medical marijuana cultivation, dispensary, laboratory, or production establishment.
In Carson City, two dispensaries, Nevada Organix LLC and one not named, received provisional license approval. See the full list here. Go here for provisional licenses for marijuana cultivation facilities, where there are seven in Carson City. Four Carson City applicants received license approvals for production facilities. There were no applicants in Carson City for independent testing laboratories.

Supervisor Jim Shirk switched his position from the first reading, arguing against allowing for cultivation facilities saying that Carson City will be home to businesses from other counties who have opted out of allowing for medical marijuana.

The second reading of a proposed zoning ordinance allowing for marijuana dispensaries and facilities for cultivation, production and testing will go before the Carson City Board of Supervisors on Thursday during an evening session.
Carson City Supervisors agree to first reading of medical marijuana zoning areas
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 06/19/2014 - 6:14pmThe Carson City Board of Supervisors tentatively agreed Thursday to allow limited zoning for marijuana dispensaries, cultivation, production and testing facilities within the city limits.
The motion, made by Supervisor Karen Abowd was unanimous. It was agreed to as a first reading and will come back to the board for a second reading of the vote, which will be an evening session.

DUIs, assaults and disorderly calls keep Carson City deputies busy over weekend
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 05/12/2014 - 1:19pmCarson City sheriff's deputies were busy over Mother's Day weekend with several misdemeanor-related calls involving domestic battery, DUIs, assault, and court warrant arrests.
A man was arrested Saturday in the 2100 block of East William Street on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and violation of a suspended sentence after he allegedly punched and kicked his girlfriend.
According to the arrest report filed by a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy, officers responded to a hotel and casino at 5:04 a.m. and met with security regarding the suspect who had beaten up his girlfriend.
