DUIs, assaults and disorderly calls keep Carson City deputies busy over weekend

Carson City sheriff's deputies were busy over Mother's Day weekend with several misdemeanor-related calls involving domestic battery, DUIs, assault, and court warrant arrests.

A man was arrested Saturday in the 2100 block of East William Street on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and violation of a suspended sentence after he allegedly punched and kicked his girlfriend.

According to the arrest report filed by a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy, officers responded to a hotel and casino at 5:04 a.m. and met with security regarding the suspect who had beaten up his girlfriend.

The man was identified and was uncooperative with officers. They spoke with the victim who said the man came into their hotel room, accused her of stealing money and then kicked and punched her in the face and head several times, the arrest report states.

The woman had a swollen lip and bruising on her left arm, right shin and scrapes on her right wrist. The man was arrested at 5:19 a.m. While computer records didn't show that he had prior domestic battery convictions, he is on Alternative Sentencing with a "no alcohol" clause. Bail: $4,137.

— A Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 11:53 p.m. in the 4300 block of South Carson Street for disorderly conduct. According to the arrest report, the man was causing a disturbance after being cut off from drinking.

He was reportedly being belligerent and harassing customers. The man was escorted out of the bar where he was found at a casino by a Carson City sheriff deputy.

The man smelled of alcohol and marijuana, according to the arrest report. The officer asked if he had marijuana on him and he said he did, the arrest report states. The man then told the officer that he has a medical marijuana card. The officer asked to see the card and the man then began to yell and swear at the officer, the arrest report states.

The officer asked the man to stop yelling, but he continued to yell and scream profanities. He was arrested.

At jail during booking officers found a plastic bag with marijuana and a medical marijuana card. He faces a disorderly conduct charge. Bail: $237.

— A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for battery Saturday, 6:35 p.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway. The woman reportedly kicked a nurse several times in the face, chest and hand. After the woman was medically cleared, she was placed under arrest for battery. Bail: $3,000.

— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday 9:05 p.m. at Robinson and Drew streets on three misdemeanor charges, driving without headlights while on a suspended license and a contempt of court warrant, failure to appear, issued in February 2011. Bail: $1,940.

— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 3:14 p.m. in the 1100 block of Corbett Street. He faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer, being an ex-felon failing to register, and being arrested while on probation.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of East Long Street on a report of a man throwing things and yelling. A woman answered the door and was crying. Officers asked where the man was and the woman would not say. A neighbor advised they saw the man climb out of a window. Deputies located the man running along Corbett Street and he was arrested. Bail: $3,874.

— A 33-year-old man was arrested Sunday, 10:52 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street on two warrant charges, failure to comply, issued out of Sparks Township Court on Jan. 24, 2014 and Jan. 27, 2014. Bail; $1,500.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 10:17 p.m. in the area of Menlo Drive and Ashby Court on misdemeanor charges of DUI and a contempt of court warrant issued Feb. 14, 2014. The man was stopped after a license plate check showed the driver had a warrant.

The man told officers he had consumed a couple tall boy Pabst Blue Ribbon beers. The man failed the field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test showed he was over .08. Bail: $1,637.

— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 10:35 p.m. on Highway 50 and Airport Road on a misdemeanor charge, failure to appear, issued May 6, 2014. According to the arrest report, an observed a vehicle speeding and ran a check through dispatch which came back as the owner of the vehicle having an outstanding warrant.
A traffic stop was done and the driver was contacted, which turned out not to be the person with the warrant. The driver was a juvenile who recently bought the vehicle.
While on the traffic stop, the previous owner arrived to assist with the registration problem. At that time, it was confirmed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The vehicle was impounded due to registration issues and not being insured. Bail: $190.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
