Carson City arrests: Woman held for suspected child neglect, drug possession

A 39-year-old woman was arrested Friday for suspicion of felony child abuse and neglect, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team report states.

Carson City deputies arrest pair for drug charges after they left a hotel known for 'heavy drug traffic'

A 21-year-old Carson City man and a 41-year-old transient woman were arrested in the 100 block of E. Long Street for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating bail conditions.

According to the report, Allen Lee Parkins and Kesa Dawn Pascal were arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after deputies spotted Parkins and Pascal leaving a hotel known for “heavy drug traffic.”

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Homeland Security extends REAL ID deadline to Oct. 1, 2021

The Department of Homeland Security has set the new deadline for REAL ID enforcement as Oct. 1, 2021. Acting Secretary Chad Wolf issued the following statement on the deadline extension:

Nevada governor, DMV grant 90-day license and registration extensions

CARSON CITY — In an effort to bring relief to Nevada motorists affected by the closures related to COVID-19, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak and the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles have issued an automatic 90-day extension for expiring driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations and other DMV documents. Governor Sisolak signed a Declaration of Emergency authorizing the extension March 20.
