Concert Under the Stars to benefit Greenhouse Project

The second annual Concert Under the Stars, a benefit for The Greenhouse Project, will be on Wednesday, July 14 at Adele's Restaurant and Lounge in Carson City.

Join in the fun with the Silver Dollar cars on display, rock & roll music and great food. Thursday's event is a run up to the Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic July 30 through Aug. 1. No charge on Thursday for the spectators or cars. The event will be on the east side of the Carson Mall, 1300 Stewart Street. The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Call (775) 687-7410.
Carson City area road report for July 12-18
Submitted by editor on Sun, 07/11/2010 - 7:24amHere are the road construction projects in the Carson City area for Monday, July 12 through Sunday, July 18. Expect some delays and use caution in the construction zones.
The Roop Street widening project will continue this week with the following impacts expected:
— Effective Thursday, July 8, Roop Street will be closed to through traffic from William Street to Robinson Street. This closure will last through Sept. 1.
—The intersection of Caroline Street and Roop Street will be closed to through traffic through Sept. 1. Traffic may cross Roop Street at Washington Street.

Carson City BLM office: Statewide public land fire restrictions begin July 16

Because of this, the Bureau of Land Management Carson City District Office has announced plans to begin statewide fire restrictions on public lands beginning Friday, July 16.

Sen. Harry Reid turned up in the Capital City on this Fourth of July holiday, spending about an hour at the annual RSVP Carnival at Mills Park in Carson City.
The Nevada Democrat and the Senate Majority Leader strolled through the park and was greeted by well-wishers, supporters and even a couple of critics who were polite and cordial.
Nevada State Parks offers backyard bird feeder class at Washoe Lake

A class on how to make a bird feeder out of recycled plastic will be offered by Nevada State Parks at Washoe Lake on July 10 beginning at 10 a.m.
Park staff will teach anyone how to decorate bird feeders out of recycled plastic bottles. The program is suitable for ages 5 to adult and all materials will be provided.
In honor of Nevada State Parks 75th anniversary, all children will receive a 75th anniversary memorabilia prize.
