South Lake Tahoe man injured, Wellington woman killed in Kingsbury Grade crash

Kingsbury Grade in Douglas County was closed for several hours Friday after a crash between a motorhome and a Nissan Pathfinder sent several victims to area hospitals and resulted in the death of one of the drivers.

This month, all profits from our dance will be donated to Advocates to End Domestic Violence. Join us for a night of fabulous dancing and help this worthy charity in the process. At 6:30 p.m., special guest instructor, Kelly Lynn Ford will teach a lesson in intermediate West Coast Swing. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance party Saturday, August 27 at the Brewery Arts Center’s Black Box Theather, 449 W. King St., Carson City. At 6:30 p.m.

Angie Bryan will teach a lesson in intermediate West Coast Swing. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers.

Sand Harbor Overlook hiking tour along Tahoe Rim Trail set for Sept. 17

Join Nevada State Parks for a ranger-led hike to the Sand Harbor Overlook of the Tahoe Rim Trail on Saturday, September 17. We’ll meet at Spooner Lake at 8:45 a.m. and carpool to the Marlette Peak Campground. From there we’ll hike 2 miles to the overlook. The magnificent views from the top stretch across the sparkling waters of Lake Tahoe and jagged peaks of the high sierra.

This week will also see receptions for two of those exhibits. The Nevada Arts Council welcomes Dave Rowe on Tuesday.

Regional chili cooks bring the heat for veterans

More United States military veterans will be able to travel to Washington, D.C. because of the proceeds expected from this weekend's regional chili cook-offs held at Glen Eagles Restaurant in north Carson City, Honor Flight Nevada Founder Jon Yuspa said.
