After-hours burglary being investigated after man found dead from fall at Carson City shopping center
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 11/17/2019 - 11:26amUPDATE: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says the incident, in which a man was found dead after apparently falling through the roof at a Carson City shopping center business, is being investigated as a possible after-hours burglary and that the deceased man had been dead for some time.
According to Sheriff Furlong, workers at a hair salon came into the business to open up for the day. When they arrived they found a deceased male on the ground, who appeared to have fallen through the ceiling.

The fundraiser for Mila Mangone of Carson City is from opening to closing, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the pizza restaurant, located at 2010 E William Street. Portions of the proceeds collected at the fundraiser will help Mila's treatment plan.

The salon will provide free haircuts for veterans, activity duty and first responders. Proceeds to benefit Red, White and Blue Dog Tags.
The Saturday, Nov. 3 event is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a 9 a.m. grand opening ceremony with Color Guard. Shelby Jackson will perform the National Anthem.

Carson City sheriff's reserve tradition brings Christmas cheer to 86 families

In a tradition that spans nearly 30 years, a legion of sheriff’s office volunteers dressed as Santa and elves made pre-arranged home visits around Carson City, delivering mighty roars of “Merry Christmas,” candy canes and gifts for children.
Carson city deputies arrest five on felony charges during weekend patrol
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 08/11/2014 - 10:21amA 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday on a felony charge of possession of a stolen vehicle after he had been stopped and then took off running from officers before being caught, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
James Dean Anderson was taken into custody at 4:38 p.m. in the 1500 block of Continental Drive. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer and driving on a revoked license for DUI.

Woman jailed for allegedly licking child's face outside hair salon
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 08/19/2013 - 11:14amA 57-year-old Silver Springs woman faces two misdemeanor charges of battery after she allegedly licked the face of a young boy and kissed the neck of the boy's mother outside a Carson City hair salon.
According to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report, a deputy was dispatched to 3200 block of Retail Drive Aug. 16 at 6:44 p.m. in reference to the incident. The officer made contact with the mother who said the 57-year-old woman approached she and her 5-year-old son, licking the right side of the boy's face from the jaw line to his hair line, the arrest report states.

Increasing the Joy is making the holiday season more joyful by distributing gifts to these children, who may not have a traditional Christmas like many of us.
