The Dayton Chamber’s 27th annual “Making A Difference” Golf Tournament arrives Friday. Carson City Kiwanis is hosting its seventh annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday with several activities for all to enjoy. This course is designed for returning ceramics students, but is also open to anyone interested in ceramics. This class will teach you a variety of ceramics techniques and will include demonstrations. Techniques covered include wheel throwing, sculptor, and functional and non-functional patterns.

The kids of Youth Theater Carson City present a junior adaptation of the musical favorite this weekend and next. The Experimental Aircraft Association hosts ‘Young Eagle’ flights every few months at the Carson Airport to give kids 8 – 17 a plane ride to remember. Help out the Dayton Food Bank during their ‘Stuff-a-Cop-Car’ food drive at the Smith’s in Dayton; unexpired non-perishables of all kinds are appreciated. Read on and see what else the weekend brings.

Then there's Merrill and Jo Moore, who do both.
The Carson City couple learned to throw clay four years ago through a local studio, and now are ready to pass on what they've learned by opening their own pottery studio inside the Carson Mall.
Fun with Clay

This is the perfect opportunity to be creative for the holidays! Day 1 we will learn how to make a mask for Dia de los Muertos or for Halloween! Day 2, 3, and 4 we will learn how to construct a mug, a box and a rattle sculpture (pictured above). Our final two days will be set aside for glazing and any finishing touches on the projects. Nicole Bommarito will be leading the class and demonstrating construction techniques.

They will be learning techniques needed for beginning wheel throwing, trimming on the wheel, and the basics of glazing--while making pieces of art that will be treasured for years to come. This wheel-throwing will run from 4-5:30 pm for 3 weeks on Thursday afternoons from December 3 - December 17 (please note this will be a finishing class only, no new projects). Tuition includes all materials. $90.

Empty Bowls Carson City Glazing Day! Free family fun at Carson City Pottery

Restaurants are providing the soup and bread that will fill our Empty Bowls. For a minimum donation of $12, you may select one of the bowls and enjoy a warm winter meal to launch the holiday season. The artisan bowl is yours to keep as a reminder that there are empty bowls in our community. There will also be an art auction at the event!
Beginning Pottery Express Class (16-adult)
