The exhibit includes toys from the 1870s through the 1890s that were played with by Fred Dangberg, Jr., and his siblings, as well as numerous toys enjoyed by Fred’s five children and one grandson from the 1900s through the 1940s.

Grand Entrance at the La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow begins at 12 p.m. Its new home at the Multi-purpose Athletic Center (MAC) has let the annual event become even bigger. I made the decision to put all of the parade related events into a separate list for a few reasons: one, this list would be way too long otherwise; two, Halloween fun is plentiful all weekend long; and three, I want my list to be as easy to read as possible. Carson City Symphony Association begins their 34th Season today with a concert at the Bob Boldrick Theater; as always, those under 18 get free admission.

Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Leisure Hour Club Glimpses the History of the Children's Home

Located in Carson City, the facility provided a ‘home’ to hundreds of children, including Ms. Nishikawa and her brother and sister, between 1870 and 1992.

Four people died in the IHOP shooting, three of them National Guard members. Today, they will be honored again during the annual Remembrance Run. The middle of the week may be known as hump day, but the Brewery Arts Center wants it to be something to look forward to. It’s generally thought that Carson City was named after Kit Carson, but that’s only partially true. The Carson River was named for the explorer, while Carson City was named for the river that runs through it. Learn more about this important high desert watershed at Dayton State Park.

Thanks and praises to the men and women fighting the fire in Voltaire Canyon and for all of your hard work keeping those neighborhoods safe. Smoke may be bad around the valley, so find something indoors to enjoy: our plethora of art exhibits and galleries offer up something beautiful. Hit the road with Smokey and the Bandit at Galaxy Theater. If you have an interest in the digital arts, the Wired Wednesday group meets tonight at Paradise Salon. On the agenda is a discussion of their upcoming short film competition and a recap of last week’s Jukebox International Film Festival.
