There are more than 100 adults in Carson City who are eager to learn to speak, read and write English. Light snacks will be served. ESL Honors Students and Tutors

The event was held at the Governor's Mansion. Ethnic Salvadoran food was supplied by La Santaneca Restaurant. Entertainment was supplied by Metzonali Folklore Dancers.
ESL in-home program continues through summer

When public schools are closed these adults will need English Conversation practice so they do not lose some of their skill.

Come spend some time – great food, entertainment, a raffle, Santa, book sale, and of course, amazing and unique gifts for everyone. Admission for adults on Friday evening is only $2 and includes a raffle ticket as well as re-entry privileges on Saturday.

ESL 10th Year Award Ceremony

The program also tutors GED preparation and Citizenship Study at no cost.

Carson City School District honors retiring employees
Submitted by Molly Moser on Fri, 05/25/2012 - 12:35pmRetiring teachers and staff of the Carson City School District were celebrated for their accomplishments during the Carson City School District Board meeting at the Community Center on Tuesday, May 22.
A total of 13 staff members from Carson City schools were granted a clock award by Associate Superintendent of Human Resources Jose Delfin. Most of the staff that received the awards had worked for the school district for at least a decade. George Rolin, a custodian of Fremont Elementary School for more than 20 years, expressed his gratefulness when he received his award.
Oil Change for a Cause

Saturday, October 9th, from 8am to 6pm, Mike’s Mobile Oil will be hosting an "Oil Change for a Cause" fundraiser and will donate 100% of their profits from this event to the ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada to purchase the needed teaching materials for their program to continue. Grandma Hattie’s Restaurant has kindly donated the use of the parking lot behind the restaurant at 2811 South Carson St in Carson City.
Oil Change for a Cause
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 09/08/2010 - 2:34pmThe Oil Change for a Cause is a fundraiser designed to benefit the ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada. The ESL In-Home Program is a local community service organization that provides free English lessons at no charge to adults in the community whose native language is not English. It recruits and trains volunteers to teach people English and provides the instructional books and training. The program currently has 115 adults on a waiting list. The funds raised will be used to purchase the books needed to start these adults who are eager to learn to speak, read, and write English.
