Seven new solar arrays will save The Washoe Tribe $25,000 annually

In addition to the 113 kW of power BRS built for them in 2011, BRS is currently building seven new Carson City area arrays for the tribe.

GoodCall Data Center notes in a report published Wednesday that Nevada's capital city made the list because of high lawyer salaries, great amenities and employment options.

Carson Tahoe Center for Wound Healing Joins Healogics to Raise Awareness of Chronic Wounds

The rising incidence of chronic wounds continues to be fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as obesity, and the late effects of radiation therapy. Left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.

Foster parents needed in Nevada’s rural regions, training sessions offered in Carson City

“Training sessions help prepare interested foster/adoptive caregivers with the information they’ll need to become successful parents. The training addresses many of the unique challenges they may face, and helps them decide whether they’re ready to get started in becoming a licensed foster parent,” said Lori Nichols, licensed social worker and recruiter at Division of Child and Family Services.

In a drought, trees have a few adaptive defense mechanisms that help to reduce water loss. However, over extended periods of drought, tree growth and appearance can suffer and trees may die.

Heavenly Epic Discovery plan at Tahoe gets final OK, construction to begin this summer
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 05/14/2015 - 12:16pmThe final hurdle in a process that began in 2013 was cleared Thursday for Heavenly Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe with final approval by the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board for the Epic Discovery Project, a year-round outdoor recreation plan to straddle the resort's Nevada and California border.
Heavenly Mountain Resort has sought approval for expansions to its on-mountain summer activities, as part of Vail Resorts’ Epic Discovery program. The Epic Discovery plan was submitted in July 2013 and has undergone a comprehensive environmental and public review.

While Lake Tahoe clarity results are positive, new challenges loom
Submitted by editor on Thu, 04/16/2015 - 11:39amThe University of California, Davis and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency recently released their yearly water clarity readings for Lake Tahoe. The good news: Mid-lake water clarity improved significantly in 2014, with an average reading of 77.8 feet. That’s 7.5 feet greater than the average reading for 2013, and almost 14 feet greater than the 64.1 feet measured in 1997, Lake Tahoe’s lowest recorded clarity.
