Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong is opening the doors of the sheriff's office for 12 consecutive Wednesday nights as part of its annual Citizen's Academy, which enables residents to have a better understanding of the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Carson City arrest log for Saturday: Woman jailed after stealing purse from elderly shopper

A 25-year-old woman was arrested Saturday on felony charges including burglary and crimes against an elderly person after she allegedly stole a purse belolonging to an 85-year-old woman who was shopping inside Walmart, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Arrested was Jacqueline Cunningham of Elko. According to the report, Carson City sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street regarding a larceny in progress.
