Country dancing is coming to Virginia City on Thursday, April 25 with a free community event at Pipers Opera House. The Carson Lanes Country Kickers, a dance group that meets and dances weekly at Carson Lanes’ Eleventh Frame Lounge, will bring their skill, enthusiasm and fun to the first, in what hopefully will be the first of many country dance nights on the spring-loaded dance floor at Piper’s.

Sure it's tax day and all and sure the weather outside is expected to be windy with a chance of showers. But these shouldn't shake your enthusiasm for another awesome day in our great capital city. Well the weekend sure went fast as we say goodbye to March. Now we're heading into Monday, April 1, 2019 where pranks, larks and tom foolery are orders of the day. Two upcoming dances offered by two Carson City schools are aimed at family participation, with parents serving as dance partners to their children.

Vietnam War Veterans Remembrance Day & All Veterans Luncheon March 30, 2019 agenda:

10 a.m. — Reno Event Center doors opens

10:10 a.m. — Veterans officially “Welcomed Home” and thanked for their service. They, and the public are invited to avail themselves of services and outreach opportunities provided by veteran service organizations in Northern Nevada. Also available are static displays of Vietnam era equipment, a Vietnam mobile museum and music from the era with US Navy Veteran and DJ, Mr. Shane Whitecloud.

Welcome Carson City to Monday, Feb. 18 where all that's left, at least for the next couple days before the next system arrives, is the snow removal. Oh, and it is also President's Day with federal, state and local government offices closed, including schools. Bundle up when headed outside. It is a cold one. Today's high will be in the low 30s.

After snow and wind blew into the capital city Sunday and overnight, we are looking at clearing but breezy skies in time for today's inauguration on the capitol grounds. Today is also the first day of classes for Carson City School District after winter break. As of the time of this writing, no delays have been announced.
