Head downtown for some yummy goodness; today’s Farmers Market runs from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Living the Good Life welcomes Rocky and Judith to the stage. The members of the High Desert Swing Dance Club get together on Monday at El Charro Avita to dance the night away.

Compared to the last few weekends, Carson City is downright sleepy. That just makes it much easier to get around town and explore. The annual Chili Cook-off at Glen Eagles, the last few performances of Aladdin, Jr., and the all new Polynesian Festival are just about here. Tonight you’ll want to enjoy CV-41 at Living the Good Life: just the first of their outdoor summer shows. Local legend, Unkle Funkle, is hitting the stage at the Carson Nugget. Get your reggae fix at the Westside Pour House when Whiskey Lung starts jamming. Join Mike Thompson at the Plaza Hotel: the Roswell Incident is the subject of tonight’s lecture.

The great day about three-day weekends is how quickly the next weekend appears. Thursday in Carson City offers fun stuff like live music at Living the Good Life and Sassafras, karaoke at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar, and the Silver Dollar Classic Car Cruise night. Monty Python lovers should audition for ‘Spamalot’ at the Brewery Arts Center. The fireworks went off in Carson City last night without a hitch, bringing the end of another incredible weekend. Our local Classic Cinema Club meets tonight and will be showing 'A Walk in the Sun' with Dana Andrews. Karaoke at Crossroads Lounge is hosted by J and M Productions: they have 60,000 songs to choose from. Trivia junkies won't want to miss the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz at Westside Pour House. “So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it. Thank you.” Don't miss out on seeing Gene Wilder on the big screen: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is at Galaxy Theater.

Summer is moving right along. We are days away from the Fourth of July weekend: fireworks, the Downtown wine walk, a carnival at Mills Park, and Wildhorse Children’s Theater's production of Aladdin, Jr. Weekdays in Carson City aren’t shirking their duties though, as there is plenty to do today. Learn some swing dance moves at El Charro Avita or go for a walk with the Parks and Recreation Department. Singer-songwriter, Canyon White, entertains at Living the Good Life. For those with a skewed sense of humor: Mystery Science Theater 3000 makes an appearance at Galaxy Theater tonight.

If you thought that things were going to get quiet around town, I regret to inform you that there is one more incredible weekend on the horizon. The bicycles are off the hills, the rat-rods have sputtered home, but Independence Day weekend is next on the list. Rest up and start planning for fireworks. Mondays in Carson City are relatively quiet, but Ed's Doghouse is standing by with mimosa specials, Carson Lanes will let you bowl all day for $1 a game, and the Nevada Artists Association at the Brewery Art Center has a new show in the gallery that it would love you to come see.

Last weekend the cyclists ruled our city, but now the hot-rodders are king of the road. The Rockabilly Riot is jam-packed with activities all over town: the races and booths at Mills Park; a street dance at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar; a tattoo show in the Community Center; a free concert at Gold Dust West; and Burlesque at the Nugget. Don’t think that’s all our valley has to offer, though, keep reading for all this weekend’s fun.

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad is running full steam ahead this summer with more reasons to explore the Silver State’s ultimate Old West steam train ride through historic Comstock country with new railroad adventures designed for Nevada residents and young train enthusiasts.

The Levitt Amp Concert Series continues this Saturday night at 7pm at the Brewery Arts Center with Terceto Kali with the Jason McGuire Trio.

This groundbreaking musical trio seamlessly blends flamenco, Latin, and jazz in music and dance with a cast of world-class artists from around the country who are rooted in a variety of musical genres.

There’s a riot at Mills Park. Don’t worry, this isn’t the kind of riot you want to avoid: the Rockabilly Riot has roared into town and offers rad cars, drag races, live music, a burlesque show and tattoo expo. Intermingled with the pompadours and pin-up girls are hundreds of law enforcement officers in town to show off their skills at the Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge. Tonight you’ll have to choose where you go for free music: the street dance at Jimmy G’s, Gold Dust West, Westside Pour House, the Fandango, Nugget, or Max Casino.

The Rockabilly Riot roars into town today and it’s bring cool cars, a tattoo expo, music, contests, pin-up girls, and so much more. Check it out at Mills Park and make sure to catch the talented officers competing in this year’s Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge while you’re there. The kids in town are getting a new Teen Center at the Boys and Girls Club: the ribbon cutting is at 10 a.m. You’ll find author Mike White at the Nevada State Museum this evening. His presentation on the best backpacking trips in Nevada and California is part of the Francis Humphrey Lecture Series.

With more than 50 booths featuring artists from across the West Coast, Rockabilly Riot’s Tattoo Expo this weekend in Carson City will highlight some of the region’s best ink.

“You’ll get a chance to be tattooed by someone you otherwise may not even know,” said Jeffery Williford, co-owner of the Ruby Lantern, which is sponsoring the expo. “Some of these guys have a waiting list of two to three weeks out. You have a better chance of actually seeing them here.”

Happy Wednesday, Carson City. A huge shout-out to the Carson City Arts and Culture Coalition: their Focus on Carson Photography Contest has concluded and the winners will be featured on a banner at Telegraph and Curry. The installation goes up at 10:30 a.m. today, and they could use a hand or two. The Wednesday Evening Farmers Market is in full swing and hits Third and Curry at 4 p.m.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance party June 25 at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. At 6:30 p.m., Steve Dorman will teach a lesson in intermediate Night Club Two Step. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmember. Join the club that night, and the dance is free.
