So many wonderful things happen as the summer winds down. Glow Patrol, camels, ostriches, not to mention the return of all things pumpkin. Enjoy the last of our balmy evenings with the Mark Castro Band on the stage at Living the Good Life. Let Mike Thomas wow you with tales of ‘Undersea Wonders’ during his presentation at the Plaza. Rockabilly takes the stage at Sassafras when the Scoundrels from Vegas get started around 8:30 p.m. Meet Michael Malley at the artist reception celebrating his exhibit 'Silver State Swimmer' in the Community Center Sierra Room.

The Rockin' 50's Family Dance

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space in cooperation with Carson City Senior Center present the Rockin’ 50’s Family Dance! Come dance the night away to awesome hits from the 1950’s Saturday, September 10th from 4pm to 6pm at the Carson City Community Center Gym. Tickets are $20 per couple and $5 for an additional person. Tickets are available at the MAC and the Aquatics Facility. Contact 887-2290 for more information. Proceeds go to help support Meals on Wheels and CCRD Youth Program.

It’s back to school and back to work after a long weekend, but don’t let the day feel like a Monday. Join the Classic Cinema Club for Whistle Stop, a love triangle starring Ava Gardner. Bring something for the ducks if you join in the Easy Walk at Ross Gold Park. Five years ago, our community suffered a great shock when four people, including three National Guardsmen, were the victims of a shooting attack at IHOP. The annual remembrance run begins at 7 a.m., so please be cautious when driving along Fairview this morning.

The long weekend lets us hold onto summer a little bit longer. Enjoy an interfaith community picnic on the lawn at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. High Sierra Swing Dance Club's Intermediate West Coast Swing lesson and monthly dance

High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance party Saturday, August 27 at the Brewery Arts Center’s Black Box Theather, 449 W. King St., Carson City. At 6:30 p.m.

Angie Bryan will teach a lesson in intermediate West Coast Swing. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers.

New Stage in Silver City Adds to Comstock’s Live Music and Theater Venues

SILVER CITY, Nev. — The "Silver Pavilion" Inaugura- Palooza concert on August 20th was a big success with at least 150 folks from near and far in attendance during the 6 hour event. The festival style public event was held to celebrate the much anticipated addition of a new outdoor stage to the region's arts and music scene.
