This seminar is for women of all ages, for those who are pregnant, recently had children or had children 40 years ago. We will be discussing pelvic floor dysfunctions which can be a variety of different things.

We will also learn how to control them and start to heal our bodies. We are often told dysfunctions like leaking urine or things that just don’t feel right postpartum are normal and happen to every woman postpartum. We are then never offered solutions beyond kegels.

These dysfunctions are common but should never be perceived as normal. The pelvic floor is comprised of three layers of muscles and these are the muscles responsible for control over proper pelvic floor function, usually postpartum they just need to be retrained how to work, they are rarely damaged and unable to function properly again.

Heading into the Independence Day holiday weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to keep the next three days jam-packed with excitement.

Capitol City Poker Run to benefit Muscle Powered will take place this Saturday, July 6 in Carson City. This is a bicycle “poker" ride that will start at Silver Strike CrossFit and will ride throughout Carson City.

All proceeds benefit Muscle Powered. Best Poker hand at the end of the ride will win a bike from the Bike Smith. Raffle prizes and Grand Prize to be announced at Silver Strike CrossFit where a good truck will also be present.

Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. Is it the middle of the work week already? That's what a 3-day holiday weekend brings. Heading into Wednesday, May 29, 2019, there's a number of events around the Carson City region lined up, including Salsa dancing classes at Yaple's Ballroom, a live music show at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City (hosted by the Canvas Cafe) and a live jazz jam at Living the Good Life in Carson City.

Want a new kind of work out? Come to Ninja Status! Your acrobatic crossfit fitness class. It includes a great workout to cover all those hidden muscles and help you loose weight! Chinese pole, silks, cardio boxing and kickboxing, handstands and more. Each mixes it up to get your the workout you need and help you accomplish your fitness goals. Class is taught by professional pole competitor, circus producer, and martial art champion, Ben Pierson.

Silver Strike CrossFit is hosting a 5K "Will Run for Treats" event this Saturday, March 16 at Centennial Park in Carson City to benefit the Carson Animal Services Initiative, also known as CASI.

There are only two more Saturdays until Christmas, and Santa Claus is back in Carson City again this weekend ahead of the big holiday.

The week is starting out with a spattering of snow, just enough to remind us how unpredictable our weather can be. It’ll make for a difficult morning commute but won’t be long-lived. For the last several months, the Galaxy Theater has been playing a movie from yesteryear on Sundays and Wednesdays. This week’s ‘Flashback’ is the disco classic ‘Saturday Night Fever,’ in all its polyester glory. For those interested in a nursing career, Western Nevada College is hosting an informational meeting that will cover what can be expected for those enrolling in the educational program. Now that spring is more or less here, Carson City BMX is back on the track. You’ll find their races on Sunday mornings, but Wednesdays are for practice.

A new week begins and brings us one day closer to warm weather. Karaoke night at the Fox Brewpub is an all-ages, family-friendly event, but all-day happy hour inside the Fox’ Den is meant just for the adults. Local theatre group, the Proscenium Players, have a few great productions coming these next few months; their monthly meeting is this evening at the Brewery Arts Center and anyone interested in theater or wanting to get involved is welcome to attend. Swing into the night with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club at Carson Lanes.

The annual Father-Daughter Ball at Carson High School is just days away. Tickets have been flying off the proverbial shelf, and you aren’t going to want to miss out. It won’t seem like it today, but spring is on the way. We’ll be seeing sunny days in the sixties by week’s end. If you’re looking for a way to entertain the kids, dollar days at our two bowling alleys make for a fun, yet inexpensive, outing. The Friends of the Carson City Library are hosting a week-long food drive. Bring your non-perishable donations to Browsers Corner Book Store and take a look around. You might find the perfect book for Spring Break.

It’s just unfortunate timing that today has been designated ‘Nevada Moves Day.’ With the heavy rain, it may not be the best time to try your hand at walking or biking to school. A break in the storm this afternoon will make for an easier trek home, but you can always take up the challenge after Spring break next week. The annual Father-Daughter Dance at Carson High is fast approaching, and today is your last chance for in-person ticket sales. Head to the Carson High office between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. if you’ve got cash in hand.

Okay. This is one of the hardest weekend lists I’ve ever had to do. This dump of snow has cancelled some events, but others are in full force. Best I can tell, St. Patrick’s Day parties are not deterred by a little snowfall. There will be no parade in Virginia City, but the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest is on. Head to downtown Carson for more green beer, Irish music, and corned beef and cabbage than you’ll know what to do with.

Tiffani’s 5th annual Sealed Toy Drive has commenced with 17 drop off locations in and around Carson City. The "sealed" toy drive allows hospitalized children who have to stay in their room, or are unable to play with used toys, a chance to receive a small gift basket of toys and games to play with over the holidays.
