Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. The Carson Airport Fly-In and Open House has plenty of aeronautic fun in store. You’ll have to keep reading for all of the fun options in Carson City and the surrounding valleys.

The streets of downtown Carson City come alive this month with the sound of music as concert series fill the summer air of the historic west side.

Beware, or you'll suffer from fun stuff overload. The State Fair and Rendezvous continues at Mills Park, and now you can head into the Pavilion and get your car or bike registered for the Show and Shine. Shiny cars are also welcome at the Carson Cruise - Meet and Greet's Summer Cruise Night: start out at Bully's Sports Bar and you'll convoy down to McFadden Plaza for the Fridays at the Fox Concert Series Kick-off. Shane Dwight takes the stage to get weekend off to a great start.

The Jazz and Beyond festival committee announced Thursday the winner of the 2017 poster and program cover art contest is William Smith, a member of the Nevada Artists Association.

It’s the perfect time to enjoy family and friends and some great music. The Carson Nugget powers it up to rock out tonight with Volt: A Tribute to AC/DC in their ballroom. Dayton Valley Golf Course offers up dinner and a show with this year’s debut of Concerts on the Green. Blues Monster and pulled pork sliders are a great way to enjoy the evening.

Fire up that grill, Carson City, we’ve got the perfect weather to kick off the summer. The early Farmers Market at Musser and Nevada offers the perfect finishing touches to any picnic or bar-be-que. It’s all aboard for train lovers: the V&T begins its runs to Virginia City this weekend and the historic Glenbrook Engine is all steamed up at the Railroad Museum. A homegrown community handbell ensemble, Tintabulations has grown from a small group of artistic director Barb Walsh's students to a nationally and internationally respected and sought after ensemble.

Three of the premier Celtic harpers in the world take you on a dramatic musical journey deep into the myths, magic and fabled history of this most captivating instrument to close out this season’s Celtic Series at the Brewery Arts Center, this Saturday May 13, 7 p.m. in the BAC’s MHJ Black Box Theater at 411 West King Street.

Under the direction of Richard Doede, the Capital City Community Band will perform its annual “FREE Spring Concert” Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at 3:00pm, Western Nevada College, Aspen Building – Carson Nugget Hall (formerly “Sarah Winnemucca Hall”), 2201 West College Parkway, Carson City, Nevada. Attention singers: The Carson City Symphony Chorus will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, May 3, for outdoor performances with the Carson City Symphony at the Governor’s Mansion outdoors on June 11 and in Genoa on July 4. Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Choral Room in Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers that specializes in early music, will present “A Royal Birthday Celebration” in two concerts in Carson City.

Suspect Terrane performs an entertaining eclectic spectrum of acoustic music, drawing on the influences of bluegrass, western swing, folk, and rock, and pulling it all together with rich vocal harmonies. They will be at the Brewery Arts Center MHJ Black Box Theater, on Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m.

Spring is what you make of it. It’s not going to be that warm today, but it’ll be dry, so embrace the day. Tuesdays are for hiking and biking in Carson. The morning easy walk will take you from Mills Park to the Capitol and the afternoon conditioning hike will give you well-deserved views from C-Hill. Now that we’ve warmed up some, the Tuesday evening ladies’ ride in Ash Canyon has started up again: don’t forget your helmet. Congratulations to Mile High Jazz Band for 16 years of monthly concerts at Comma Coffee. Enjoy a night of great music, yummy drinks, and a birthday cake to celebrate.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1976, will present Men of Worth on Friday night, March 17 in the Black Box Theater.

Men of Worth was formed in 1986 by Scotsman Donnie Macdonald and Irishman James Keigher who came together to perform Irish and Scottish folk music, combining traditional and contemporary styles.

Carson Chamber Singers "Mostly Mozart" concerts planned for Tuesday, March 7 in Carson City and Friday, March 10, in Virginia City have been postponed. New dates will be determined soon.

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra will present an eclectic array of music and announce the 2017 Scholarship winners at their Annual Spring Concert on April 1 at 7 p.m. at the Carson Valley CIVC Hall.

Mile High Jazz Band Association and Carson City will present the 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Festival, featuring 18 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in the capital city, Aug. 4-21.

Three-time GRAMMY award winner and legendary saxophone artist Tom Scott will perform with the 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra on Sunday, February 12 at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR).

The Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk pays no heed to what the weather serves up, and this Saturday has rain on the menu. Bundle up, grab an umbrella and your friends, and brave the weather for this fun event.

The Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series elevated the Brewery Arts Center’s existing summer concert series, filling the Minnesota Street Stage with free, live music and transforming an underused street in the heart of downtown Carson City’s Historic District into a vibrant gathering place for the surrounding community.

The concert series will return again for 2017, according to Gina Lopez Hill, executive director of the Brewery Arts Center, which was responsible for last year's and this year's proposal to bring the concert series to Carson City and getting Carson City residents to vote for the capital city's chances online.
