It’s Presidents Day weekend with a Valentine’s Day cherry on top. There is still time for some shopping if you’re looking for something for your special someone. Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery hosts its annual Champagne and Jewelry party Saturday and offers some amazing hand-crafted bling for your sweetheart. Carson Mall is another great bet for last minute gifts. Several crafters, vendors, and shops make it easy to find something unique. The annual Feast of Chocolate returns to the Plaza Event Center; raising funds for scholarships has never tasted so good.

Health officials: Steady increase of flu cases in Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting a steady increase of positive Influenza flu cases. Overall, Carson City, Lyon and Douglas counties saw 27 cases testing positive for influenza.

About 59 percent of those tested were positive for Influenza strain B, which is a slightly higher percentage of this specific strain than was seen in previous years at this time. CCHHS encourages providers to continue to report positive influenza testing to the Health Department as it helps to monitor influenza activity.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada is hosting free basketball handling clinics for kids of all ages from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. every Saturday through March 26 at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center at 1870 Russell Way in Carson City.

Mobile Mammovan to make stops in Carson City, Virginia City and Yerington

Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan will be making stops beginning next week around northern Nevada. There will screenings in Carson City, Virginia City, Yerington and Reno.

The mobile Mammovan aims to make mammography services accessible and convenient for women by visiting locations across Nevada. These screenings are primarily for women age 40 and older; however, screenings will be provided to those younger than 40 that have a physician referral.

HELP NOW: Carson City area health professionals sorely needed for weekend clinic

A health services clinic through Remote Area Medical is happening now through Sunday in Carson City. Organizers said Friday that there is a shortage of health care professionals, including optometrists and any medical support doctors and nurses.

The clinic is being held at Carson High School. It is designed for children, families and the elderly who are without health care, dental health, and vision eye care. Hundreds are expected to participate during the three day free clinic.

The RAM Clinic begins today. It’s first come first served, so you’ll be in line a while if you’d like to be seen; bring something to snack on and entertain yourself with. Downtown will be the place to be tonight. Notch 8 will be making their first appearance in several months with a show at Westside Pour House. Carson Cigar is still celebrating its 20th birthday, so enjoy live music with Bread and Butter tonight. Comma Coffee will be filled with fun and laughter. The annual Tickled Pink World Dance Open Floor is including a lip sync contest for the first time, so it should be a good time had by all.

It's Your City: Free health clinic Friday through Sunday in Carson City

This week's It's Your City with host Cortney Bloomer traveled to Yerington this weekend to provide a preview of this coming weekend's Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic right here in Carson City.

Courtney talks with Healthy Communities Coalition director Christy McGill.

RAM is a non-profit organization providing free medical, dental and vision services to patients. The upcoming Carson City event will run October 16th, 2015 thru October 18th, 2015.

Clinic hours are Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th, 6 am till 4 pm, and Sunday, October 18th, 6 am till 1 pm. Dr.

Dr. Heather Parsons of Valley Pediatric Dentistry to volunteer at the upcoming Remote Area Medical (RAM) event in Carson City. RAM is a non-profit organization providing free medical, dental and vision services to patients. The upcoming Carson City event will run October 16th, 2015 thru October 18th, 2015.

Free health clinic this weekend in Yerington and Oct. 16-18 in Carson City

Remote Area Medical, an organization dedicated to providing free, quality health care services, will host free pop-up clinics during the next two weekends for adults and children in Lyon County and Carson City.

There are no eligibility requirements and identification isn't necessary. Services are provided on a first come basis. The first pop-up clinic will be this weekend in Yerington, Oct. 9-11, and the second will be in Carson City the following weekend, Oct. 16-18.

The tradition of homecoming is once again here at Carson High School.
