Prescribed burns continue at Empire Ranch Golf Course

Empire Ranch Golf Course will be conducting prescribed burns to accomplish hazardous fuels reduction and wildlife habitat restoration. These burns are conducted within strict environmental conditions and under a permit issued by Carson City Fire Department. Smoke will be seen throughout the Carson area, please don’t report this as a fire. Only call 911 if you have an emergency.

There is a prescribed fire happening this Monday afternoon at Empire Ranch Golf Course. Carson City dispatch notes it has been receiving numerous calls from citizens reporting a fire. The fire is a controlled burn done by the property and was, earlier, putting up a heavy amount of smoke.

Vehicle fire reported in the area of Spooner Saturday morning, fully engulfed

Just after 11 a.m. Saturday morning first responders were called to a vehicle fire in the area of Spooner.

Douglas County called Carson City deputies stating that in the westbound lanes heading down the hill there was a vehicle, unknown if it was still moving, that was on fire.

The vehicle is fully engulfed according to dispatch. Whether it is blocking traffic is unknown

Motorists should avoid the area.

Carson City Offering Business Supply Assistance While Supplies Last

Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Carson City was able to purchase personal protective equipment, including sanitizer, disposable gloves and masks, hand sanitizer, sanitizer stands, and cleaning solution in order to create a stock of supplies for Carson City businesses.

Traffic accident reported at northbound I-580 in Carson City Friday evening

At 5:49 p.m. on Friday evening a traffic accident was reported on northbound I-580 in Carson City.

First responders as well as Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers are enroute to the scene.

Motorists should avoid the area if possible.

COVID-19 Death Toll reaches 149 in Quad-County, 78 in Carson City alone

We are reporting 7 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region.

First responders called to Carson City Airport for airplane emergency Friday afternoon

UPDATE 3:19 p.m.: No injuries are reported and responders were released from the scene. Responders on scene stated this was not an aircraft crash but rather a "skid out."

UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: All first responders are now on scene at the airport.
