Annual Scarecrow Celebration this Sat. Oct. 13, 10-3 at the Children's Museum

This Saturday, October 13th from 10am-3pm. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is hosting our annual Scarecrow Making Celebration. The workshop is free with general admission. If possible, please bring panty hose and clothing to create a unique a scarecrow as supplies are limited.

Community Meeting in Support of Wild Horse Children's Theater

On July 4, 2012, after 6 years as resident theater company at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, Wild Horse Children's Theater was evicted from the museum via an email letter with no discussions or negotiations of the eviction. WHCT was asked to remove all theater items out in 30 days without an exploration of how the museum and WHCT might work together to unwind from this 6 year relationship by offering storage space until something else was secured and/or letting WHCT continue at least until the end of the year with the programming that was scheduled at the museum.

Children's Museum announces new Executive Director

The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada’s Board of Directors is proud to introduce our new Executive Director, Luana Olsen.

Luana has extensive administrative and bookkeeping experience and has taught in the public schools for 12 years. Lu received her Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Elementary Education and English Literature in Minnesota and holds a current Nevada State Teaching License as well as a Master’s Degree in Computer Education which she received in California.

Art of the Brick exhibit at Northern Nevada Children's Museum

The Art of Brick exhibition is now on display at the Northern Nevada Children's Museum. The artwork by Nathan Sawaya is built entirely out of LEGOs, and have been attracting record crowds since they started a nationwide tour in 2007. Sawaya is known as the Picasso of LEGO bricks, and his sculptures can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even Don Trump has commissioned one of the pieces.

Celebration of Arts on Sunday to launch Nevada governor inauguration of Brian Sandoval

The inauguration of Nevada's 29th governor, Brian Sandoval, will begin on Sunday with a celebration of arts in Carson City and then continue on Monday with the official ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on the steps of the state capitol.

Beginning on Sunday, Jan. 2, from 1 to 5 p.m., cultural organizations in downtown Carson City will open their doors to offer free music and dance performances, demonstrations by traditional artists, visual arts and history exhibitions, children’s activities and shopping opportunities.

Carson City Democratic Women's Club Meeting

The Carson City Democratic Women's Club annual Christmas party will raise funds to benefit the Children's Museum and Food for Thought on Saturday December 11th at Grandma Hatties Restaurant, starting at 11:30 AM and is open to all. Instead of bringing gifts to exchange the attendees are asked to donate the equivalent in cash or checks to one or both organizations. (A single donation will be split between the two organizations). The Kid's Talking Wall event for the month of November at the mall featured health screenings, exhibits, demonstrations, entertainment, games and prizes.
