Multiple road projects in Carson City begin Monday
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 03/29/2013 - 11:00pmHere is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report beginning Monday, April 1: With ongoing construction of the Carson City Freeway project, Snyder Avenue is closed between E. Roland Street and Center Drive.
Center Drive and Silver Sage Drive are also closed south of Appion Way. Bennett Avenue is closed between Center Drive and Bigelow Drive. Detours will be marked.
On Monday, April 1, Airport Road will be closed between Fifth Street and Butti Way due to roadway maintenance.

Nevada Commission on Homeland Security agrees on 10 funding priorities for 2013

Gov. Brian Sandoval and 16 voting members of the Commission made the recommendations, according to a news release.

Panel meets with Carson City Sheriff Furlong on tonight's Women to Women

Sheriff Ken Furlong answered questions recently, with the first of a two-part program airing tonight, 7 p.m. on Charter Media channels 15 (Carson City, Minden-Gardnerville, Dayton) and Channel 3 (Reno, Sparks, Fernley, South Lake Tahoe and Fallon). The program can also be found Friday morning on Carson Now. The second part of the discussion will air April 4, 7 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt at Carson High School, Centennial Park
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 03/26/2013 - 5:00amCapital Christian Center will host a city-wide Easter Egg Hunt at Carson High School Saturday, March 30, beginning at 10 a.m.. There will be more than 12,000 eggs for the hunt, a holiday ham give away and pictures with the Easter bunny.
They will also be using the time to “beautify” the CHS campus as with 150-plus volunteers to pull weeds, rake, sweep, etc.
Carson City man jailed; accused of beating and choking pregnant girlfriend
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 03/25/2013 - 11:54amA Carson City man was arrested Sunday and faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation after allegedly punching his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and then choking her.
Aaron Patrick Allen Lane, 38, was arrested at 12:42 a.m. in the 2400 block of Poole Way. Lane also faces a misdemeanor charge out of Walker River Township for failure to pay fines associated with domestic battery.
Carson High Students Help Prep Tax Returns at the BRIC

As part of providing this valuable service to members of the community that have low-to-moderate income, the BRIC is collaborating with the Future Business Leaders of America club on campus at Carson High School.

Putting Main Street on a Road Diet

The presentation outlined a proposal to create a pedestrian-friendly environment on Carson Street through the downtown area of Carson City between Fifth Street and Ann Street. This Road Diet, as they are commonly called, would include using striping to reduce travel lanes from four to two, and add on-street parallel parking.

Alberti art featured at Nevada State Legislature

Dayton man dies in rollover Jeep accident in Lyon County

George Lawrence Ambrose, 21, of Dayton died at the scene of the accident, officers said. The crash, happened around 11:15 p.m. on Ft. Churchill Road.

This portion of Snyder Avenue will remain closed for approximately nine months to allow for the construction of a bridge. Center Drive and Silver Sage Drive are also closed south of Appion Way. Bennett Avenue is closed between Center Drive and Bigelow Drive.
