Carson High School Graduates honored with motorcade graduation

Today, Carson High School's 2020 Graduates were honored by the school, their families and their community with a social-distance graduation, in which graduates were escorted to the stage by motorcade, many of the cars decorated for each graduate.

South Carson Street Project report for week of June 1-5; roundabout install begins

SNC crews are preparing the roundabout installment phase of the South Carson Street project. Stewart Street in Carson City will be closed to southbound traffic with detours at Little to Roop to Fairview, the closure will remain all week. Stewart Street will be open to northbound traffic only.

Carson City deputies make warrant arrest after report of man throwing orange cones across Carson Street

A 37-year-old transient man was arrested in the 1000 block of S. Carson Street for two felony Priority 5 Probation Violation warrants, issued out of Carson City and Lyon County District Court.

According to the report, Bryant Bennett Jayne was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a local motel on a report of a man throwing orange road cones across South Carson Street and yelling at the reporting party.

Capital Ford accepting food donations Friday for Northern Nevada Dream Center

Senator Square: CHS says goodbye to yearbook adviser, astronomy students acknowledged in science journal

Patt Quinn-Davis, Carson High School Language Arts teacher and adviser of the school newspaper and Carneta yearbook, is retiring. For Quinn-Davis, the publications staff became a part of her family every year and even more so when students stayed with the program throughout their high school careers.

Carson High School's Future Business Leaders of America claim five State Championships as well as 40 top 10 awards in spite of pandemic. Senator Square: A reminder to the CHS family that every day is new, live it to the fullest

Is this pandemic over with yet? Nope! Not to beat a dead horse, but what is everyone doing with all this time off? For some, time off would be a fantastic development in their busy lives, and for others, time off would be an awful development because they are not able to pay their bills if they cannot go to work.

The point here is clear: Those who need time off cannot have it, and those who have time off do not want it. This is where hope, attitude, and contentment come into play. It is time for a laugh.

Breaking: Car chase occurring now between Carson City and Douglas County

A car chase involving a stolen vehicle began just before 12 p.m. Friday afternoon on Carson Street.

The driver of the stolen vehicle led deputies on a pursuit going up to speeds of 80 mph heading south on Carson Street into Douglas County.

Spooner Junction was closed at 11:50.

At 11:54 deputies reported a hand was waving outside of the sunroof, appearing to show something deputies could not identify.

At 11:55 the chase was approaching Mica Drive.

At 11:57 the chase passed Stephanie Lane.

At 11:58 the vehicle turned East on Johnson Lane.

Douglas commissioners, residents take to Nevada Capitol asking the county be reopened

On Thursday morning, the Douglas County Commissioners, along with a loud procession of supporters, travelled to Carson City to deliver, in unison, a letter asking the state to allow Douglas County to reopen.

Capital City Brewfest organizers reschedule popular downtown beer festival for late summer

The Capital City Brewfest is moving to late August this year due to Covid-19 concerns. Originally scheduled for June 20, the annual event will now take place on August 29 in Downtown Carson City.
