UPDATE: Carson City Health and Human Services clarified one item in the resolution regarding the number of cases. Carson City health officials have identified 1 positive case and the potential exposure of 14 ship passengers who have been repatriated who are being tracked.

The Animal Shelter is finally completed and animals have taken up residence, the paver sidewalks are being installed on Carson Street and fall is in the air!” Brad said, adding “I am looking forward to Nevada Day and to Election Day. I encourage anyone with questions, concerns or ideas to come down and talk”.

Sheriff asks Carson City to mobilize for veterans

Founding father Benjamin Franklin is credited with saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has identified a problem in the state capital, and he has proposed a way to solve it, taking Franklin’s advice to heart.

“There are a ton of veterans in this town that no one knows they’re here,” Furlong told a panel of community members Thursday afternoon at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, making specific note of the problem of homelessness among Carson City’s veteran population.

Snow and cold weather arrives in Carson City to round out 2014

While the snow didn't come over Christmas, it did arrive before the new year. It is snowing in Carson City this morning, with around an inch or less (or more) on the ground around parts of town.

Snow showers will continue in Western Nevada this morning, heaviest from Reno through Minden/Gardnerville toward Hawthorne. Total snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is expected through the Reno/Carson City area with 2 to 4 inches south into Minden and Gardnerville.

Arriving cold weather prompts Carson City to offer homeless shelter relief

UPDATE: The Carson City community has responded with several donations left at Friends in Service Helping, otherwise known as FISH, after temperatures plummeted to single-digits around Carson City early Wednesday morning. On Monday Carson City and FISH agreed to open a relief shelter at Fuji Park because of the active cold weather pattern in the region.

Carson City government officials on Thursday recognized Western Nevada College’s nationally known humanities exhibition on the costs of war, “Always Lost: A Meditation on War,” Thursday with a proclamation of appreciation and honor.

Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell, a Vietnam veteran, has called the exhibit “our community’s gift to the nation.”

A proclamation honoring the creators and contributors of “Always Lost” was presented to Western Nevada College President Chester Burton and Professors Emeritus Don Carlson and Marilee Swirczek during the Board of Supervisors meeting.

Carson City mayor's State of the City speech touches on shelter, tax increase

Carson City government finances are good, though not exceptional, Mayor Robert Crowell said Wednesday as he urged a boost in sales tax to do capital projects. A large faction of citizens, seem to think parking is the issue with the vitality of our downtown. Over the course of this article I’d like to uncover whether that’s really the issue or not, and bring up some important points.
