El Día de los niños/El Día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds. It is a daily commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures.

The Carson City Library is hosting programs during the month of April to celebrate Día to promote diversity, language, culture, and learning in Carson City!

To participate:
Pick up a Día Passport at any Día program. The kick off event is on Wednesday, 4/5/17.

Muscle Powered Easy Hike to Silver Saddle Ranch toward the Mexican Dam

Meet near the barns on Silver Saddle Ranch off of Carson River Road. Closed-toed shoes and water are required. Bring water, a friend and/or friendly dogs. Hats, sunscreen and walking sticks recommended.

Muscle Powered Easy Hike program are hikes of between 2 to 4 miles in length, often with some elevation gain (no more than 500') and can be on a paved path, smooth wide trail, or single track. The hikes will usually be of approximately 1 1/2 duration.

Moose Lodge to Host 39th annual Easter Egg Hunt succeeding Kiwanis of Carson City

Nine years ago, the Kiwanis Club of Carson City, established in 1959, were approached by the Jaycee’s of Carson City. For 30 years they had sponsored and provided the annual Easter Egg Hunt, primarily at Governor’s Field on Easter Sunday.

School District: No make up days required for Carson City students

With the end of the school year drawing nigh, The Carson City School District is pleased to announce it meets or exceeds the minimum number of minutes taught per day and in turn will not be required to make up student days lost due to weather or uncontrollable circumstances. The last day of school for Carson City students will remain Friday, June 2, 2017.

Learn how your Nevada Legislature works and tour the Assembly and Senate Chambers. Meet in front of the Legislature at 401 S. Carson Street.

All events are free, participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting site and the leader may request a physician's release at their discretion and all events require closed-toed shoes and water.

Evening hikes of 4-6 miles in length with an elevation gain, sometimes over 500 feet and usually on single track trail. The evening hike will usually be 1½ hour duration or more.

Meet at Brunswick Canyon Road and Deer Run Road, one mile south of East Highway 50. NDOT recognizes winners of 'Love NV Waters' student drawing contest

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) recognized and presented plaques to the top three winners of the NDOT Stormwater Program Kindergarten through fifth grade "Love NV Waters" drawing contest at the recent March 13 Transportation Board meeting in Carson City.
