The Capital City Arts Initiative and Western Nevada College present "Metallum Terrae" an exhibition by Kyle Karrasch in the college’s Bristlecone Gallery, 2201 W College Parkway, Carson City now through Dec. 17, 2020. The gallery is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Capital City Arts Initiative and Western Nevada College present "Ink, Paper, Print" an exhibition with work by 12 regional artists in the college’s Bristlecone Gallery, 2201 W College Parkway, Carson City.

The Jazz and Beyond festival committee announces that the winner of the 2020 poster and program cover art contest is Karen Kreyeski, for her entry, “After Midnight Jam.” The winner of the T-shirt design is Evan Tynan, for “2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival Logo.” These were selected from ten entries to highlight the 17th annual Carson City music and art festival.

Heading into the first Thursday in March and we're looking at continued sunshine with a high near 70. Even though valley rain and Sierra snow happen this time of year, we're in for a brief change after going weeks without any precipitation. Enjoy the changeup. Polls in Nevada open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, enjoy another day of sunny skies with a hike, brisk walk or bike ride around town. There's both a morning and evening hike offered through Muscle Powered or you can simply walk through downtown Carson City and alongside the capitol building. Also featured today are activities that promote diabetes awareness through Carson Tahoe Health, numerous art showings, local political party election night events and a classic film being shown at the Brewery Arts Center.

Hello Carson City and welcome to Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. The beginning of the work week promises sunny skies and seasonable temperatures, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. With the time change now in full swing and the sun rising earlier, it's always good practice to keep your windshield clean and clear and to be mindful of those intersections, streets, crosswalks and sidewalks where the rising sun shines especially bright.

How about a high temperature of 74 degrees in the Nevada state capital on the first Sunday of November? That's according to the National Weather Service in Reno, and it ought to be motivation enough to get outside, soak up the warm weather and enjoy all that the Carson City area has to offer.

Take advantage of the extra daylight while it lasts. Saturday is the final day of the year for Daylight Savings Time. Be sure to "fall back" one hour on your clocks Saturday night into early Sunday when Standard Time takes over.

There's also a costume hike tonight at Carson River Park.

Just because Nevada Day and the parade are over doesn't mean there isn't anything to do around Carson City on Sunday. Take advantage of the last of a three-day weekend, relax or have some more fun.

It's parade day in Carson City, which means a host of Nevada Day activities throughout the state capital all day long.

Of course, the 80th annual Nevada Day Parade is the centerpiece of the Silver State's 154th birthday celebration.
