Heading into the first day of the work week and the first Monday in August, there's continued sunshine and seasonable daytime high temperatures ahead. The Continuing Education program offered by Western Nevada College is offering a 5-day computer coding program designed for middle- and high-school students, ages 8-17.

With a daytime high around 92 and plenty of sunshine, activities lined up around Carson City for Tuesday, July 30, feature a midnight meteor shower gathering at the Jack C. Davis Observatory, morning and evening hikes, a Capital City youth fall baseball meeting, a ladies bike ride, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs, archery at Centennial Park, art showings and more. UPDATE: There's a star party late Monday night into Tuesday morning hosted by Carson City Parks and Recreation and Open Space. For summer’s most visible meteor showers, join the Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space Department at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory for some late night, educational fun. No pre-registration necessary. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water for night hiking from the Observatory. Head lamps and flashlights are allowed. This upcoming Monday is the Aquariids Viewing Party starting at 12:00 a.m. Tuesday (technically Monday night).

Heading into Monday, July 29, 2019 and we're wondering how the month went by so quickly. Again we're looking at a fairly typical end of July day weather wise, with sunny skies and a high around 94. On tap around Carson City are athletic, art and speaking events, a life guard camp, a computer coding camp, line dancing lessons and more. Enjoy.

Continuing Education at Western Nevada College is offering a brand-new five-day coding boot camp program designed for middle and high school students from Monday, July 29 through Aug. 2. The course is offered in partnership with Alphalancers, LLC, a web design and development company based in Reno.

This 5 day program is designed for middle- and high-school students, ages 12-17. It will provide an introduction to coding, with a focus on HTML. Students will complete a coding project by the end of the week, and will receive a certificate of completion.

Open to anyone in the community, Western Nevada College Continuing Education's HTML bootcamp is unlike other coding bootcamps because it focuses not only on giving you the coding skills to build a website, but also on giving you the entrepreneurial skills to sell the webpages you build.

CARSON CITY — In partnership with IPA LLC, Western Nevada College’s Community Education department is offering a new intensive eight-week bootcamp designed to give students the combination of HTML knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to sell basic web pages to real businesses.

A swearing in ceremony was held Thursday afternoon at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office promoting two current law enforcement officers, welcoming one new Deputy Sheriff and a Reserve Deputy Sheriff.

Carson City CrossFit is hosting a bootcamp for ladies only beginning Oct. 6, 2014. Achieve your fitness goals. We have designed a boot camp program for women of all levels of fitness, experience, and age. A select group of northern Nevada high school students who will be seniors this fall have a unique two-week opportunity from June 16-26 to learn as much as they can about digital media technology at the Smallwood Multimedia Boot Camp at the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Today, a group of women from Carson City Crossfit's All-Woman Bootcamp,PINK, met their monthly goal at the Sparks Foam Fest. The Sparks Foam Fest is a 5k marathon that is filled with many obstacles similar to that of the widely-known Tough Mudder.
