Soroptimist International of Carson City is seeking nominations for its annual Ruby Award. The Soroptimist Ruby Award honors women who, through their professional or personal efforts, are making a difference in the lives of women or girls in the areas of health, education, and economic and social development and inspires and encourages other women.

Carson City wins Levitt Amp Concert Series Grant for Fifth Straight Year

Today, the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation named Carson City, Nevada as one of 20 small to mid-sized towns and cities across America to win a Levitt AMP Grant Award of $25K in matching funds to present a free concert series at The Change Companies Stage. The Brewery Arts Center submitted Carson City’s Levitt AMP proposal.

CARSON CITY — The ACT College and Career Readiness Campaign has chosen Carson High School Health Teacher Erin Been as its 2019 ACT K-12 Champion for Nevada in recognition of her work to enhance student performance on the ACT. She represents the Northwest Division which includes Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development announced Thursday that five Carson City area programs will receive nearly $442,000 in community development block grants.

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Fire Fighter Receives National Award

Ray Johnson, Fire Prevention Technician on Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, was recently awarded the 2017 Bronze Smokey Bear Award. Johnson received this award for the work accomplished during his 24-year career educating the public about the dangers, causes, and prevention measures associated with wildland fire.

Carson City's Richards Crossing helps Nevada Rural Housing Authority win national award

The recently opened 39-unit affordable housing complex in Carson City known as Richards Crossing helped push the Nevada Rural Housing Authority project to be recognized by a national finance association during a conference last month in San Francisco.

Lake Tahoe planning agency announces Best in Basin Award winners

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency this week announced and recognized award recipients for its 25th annual Best in the Basin program. The agency created the recognition program to showcase projects that demonstrate exceptional planning, design, and compatibility with Lake Tahoe’s environment and communities.

Carson City Muscle Powered trail coordinator Jeff Potter recognized with national award

Muscle Powered's Jeff Potter was honored recently for his work on the Ash Canyon to Kings Trail in Carson City at the National and International Trail Awards, held in Portland, Oregon.

American Trails presents the National and International Trails Awards Program to recognize the tremendous contributions of volunteers, professionals, and other leaders who are working for the betterment of trails both nationally and internationally and in both rural and urban settings. These awards are presented every two years at the International Trails Symposium. The ceremony was held May 19.

Senator Square: Mural contest winner paints 'Road to Success'

The Greater Nevada Credit Union branch at CHS recently sponsored a Mural Contest open to all Carson High Students. All entries were judged and the 1st place winner was Athena Favero, who received a $200 Amazon Gift Card. Second place and a $100 Amazon Gift Card went to Michael Rose. As part of the contest, Athena painted her winning design "A Senator’s Road To Success” on the hallway wall outside the GNCU branch at CHS. Students and staff are encouraged to come by and see her winning mural at Carson High School. Congratulations to our winners, and thanks to all the students who entered.
 

Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber announces 2014 Blue Ribbon Award winners

Thursday night’s 7th Annual Blue Ribbon Awards was the largest yet with over 300 guests in attendance as individuals and businesses were recognized for their exemplary services, products and programs in the South Shore community. Produced by the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce, also known as TahoeChamber, this prestigious awards program solicited nominations for six categories and eight total awards.

Over 175 nominations were received and 95 of those nominated joined their peers at the Nov. 13 awards ceremony at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.

TahoeChamber announces 2014 Blue Ribbon award nominees

The nomination period for the 2014 Blue Ribbon Awards ended on Friday, Oct. 10. TahoeChamber’s prestigious awards program that recognizes exceptional South Shore businesses received over 175 nominations for eight separate award categories. The finalists and winners will be announced at the 7th Annual Blue Ribbon Awards dinner and ceremony on November 13 at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe agency names Best in The Basin awards for projects and contractors

Recognized for stewardship and care taken in the building and construction of developments around Lake Tahoe, the 22nd annual Best in the Basin awards were announced Tuesday by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
The TRPA, which sets policy for development around Lake Tahoe, will recognize the winners, listed below, during the 2011 Best in the Basin awards presentation during the meeting of its Governing Board on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in Stateline. Go here for the agenda.

Carson City Soroptimists are now accepting applications for their annual Violet Richardson Award. This award is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged in volunteer action within their communities or schools. Deadline to apply is December 1, 2010.
