Carson City high school seniors earn nearly $1.5 Million in scholarships

More than 60 Carson High School (CHS) Seniors were recognized Thursday night for collectively earning $1.4 million in scholarships. Their accomplishments were celebrated in an awards ceremony May 17 at Senator Square at the high school, which highlighted the academic success of the Class of 2018.

Display at Post Office in Silver City Celebrates Archaeology Awareness

SILVER CITY, Nev. — As part of Nevada’s celebration of Historic Preservation and Archaeological Awareness Month, there are dozens of May events and displays throughout the state. Among them is a display created by archaeologist Robert Elston that illustrates progress on a multi-year archaeological project funded through a National Science Foundation grant.

The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. Stewart Indian School annual Powwow recognized with national award

The Stewart Indian School Father's Day Powwow often stands out to attendees by the setting alone. “It’s a beautiful campus with multicolored stone buildings as well as the the grassy field,” said Sherry Rupert, executive director of the Nevada Indian Commission. “That’s a big attraction because most powwows are held in dirt or in parking lots.”
