Downtown Carson City street closures for the 2018 Epic Rides Carson City Off Road mountain bike racing circuit take affect beginning at 5 a.m. Friday, June 15 through the event's conclusion at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, according to maps provided by the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City.

More than 60 Carson High School (CHS) Seniors were recognized Thursday night for collectively earning $1.4 million in scholarships. Their accomplishments were celebrated in an awards ceremony May 17 at Senator Square at the high school, which highlighted the academic success of the Class of 2018.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — As part of Nevada’s celebration of Historic Preservation and Archaeological Awareness Month, there are dozens of May events and displays throughout the state. Among them is a display created by archaeologist Robert Elston that illustrates progress on a multi-year archaeological project funded through a National Science Foundation grant.

Carson City author Robert Leonard Reid is a finalist for one of the nation’s top literary awards.

Creative teens from Carson City, Lyon and Douglas counties have been selected to receive Scholastic Art Awards in the first round of the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards featuring young artists throughout Northern Nevada. 

Carson City Democrats will be hosting our inspiring Capital Blue Dinner and awards ceremony on February 1st at the Gold Dust West Casino. The featured speaker is candidate for Nevada Governor, Chris G (Giunchigliani). Other 2018 candidates will be in attendance including Kate Marshall, candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Storey County is one step closer to opening the door to its new library — while Carson City and Churchill County library staff are more efficient at their jobs — thanks to a Nevada Library Cooperative training.

The Stewart Indian School Father's Day Powwow often stands out to attendees by the setting alone. “It’s a beautiful campus with multicolored stone buildings as well as the the grassy field,” said Sherry Rupert, executive director of the Nevada Indian Commission. “That’s a big attraction because most powwows are held in dirt or in parking lots.”

The world’s longest inland paddleboard race is on tap as part of the second annual “Tahoe Vista Paddlefest” September 8–10, 2017. ELKO, Nev. — The Nevada Division of Tourism recognized outstanding members of the state’s rural tourism industry at the VolunTourism Awards Dinner April 27 in Elko. The awards ceremony was a highlight of the state’s annual Rural Roundup conference.
