Winners Picked in Nevada Artist Association's 67th annual Nevada Day Art Exhibit
The Nevada Artists Association is presenting it's 67th annual Nevada Day Art exhibit which opened Oct. 22. This exhibit was open to all northern Nevada and California artists, and being a judged show, it always brings out the latest and best of the regions artists.
Awards were offered in 9 media categories; paintings in oil, acrylic, water media, pastel, pencil, mixed media, sculpture, glass and photography.
The Nevada Artist Association formed in 1950 and operates it's non-profit gallery located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center.
A reception and awards ceremony will be held for the artists and the public on Sunday, Nov. 5, 1 to 4 p.m. The Nevada Day Show will be on exhibit through Dec. 24.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and all art is for sale. The BAC is located at 449 W. King Street. For more go to www.nevadaartists.org.
The winners are:
The coveted, 'Spirit of Nevada', was awarded to Louise Kerr of Virginia City for her oil, "Beginnings of Nevada"
"Best of Show" was awarded to Carolyn Holt of Reno for her pastel portrait "Paiute Language Teacher"
The Pat Holub award went to Abe Medina of Carson City for his water color "The Peer"
In "Other" a sculpture by Ed Bauckham of Dayton was awarded 1st place for 'Life's a Struggle Sometimes"
