Carson High School Senior signs with Arizona State University on a Division 1 Softball Scholarship

Carson High School Senior Kailee Luschar, 17, signed with Arizona State University for Softball earlier this morning during her lunch break in the school’s Morse Burley Gym. Friends and family gathered in support for the highly recruited student athlete.

Senator Square: Student reflects on Carson High School girls golf season

Editor’s Note: Sarah Wiggins is a CHS sophomore, athlete, NHS member, Leadership member, Blue Crew member, and HOSA Future Health Professional member.

The 2019 season for CHS girls golf was a great experience for everyone on the team. This year, the team was comprised of five girls: Karen Beglin, Sophia Taggart, Karrina Ferris, Brooke Gudmundson, myself, and our coaches, Wade Greenlee and Jack Butler.

Friday Sept. 13, no bad luck on this day, beginning at 1:18 p.m. was an assembly in the Big Gym during the last class of the day as an introduction to CHS’ Happiest Homecoming on Earth. Leadership students led the assembly with the first activity being the introduction of the Homecoming King and Queen candidates who made their grand entrance onto the floor.

Carson High School will again open its doors a little wider and longer for the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Night like no other Sept. 9. Open House, Open Hearts is a community event focused on building bridges to local services for teens and their families, increasing parent and guardian engagement at CHS, and celebrating the community, creativity, and diverse talents of Carson City.

More than 300 Special Olympics athletes from across the state will converge this weekend in Reno for the annual Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) Summer Games. The torch was carried through Carson City Friday on its way to the games.

Carson High School's Ben Granados signs with University of Jamestown for track

CARSON CITY — Carson High School senior sprinter and long jumper Ben Granados signed his letter of intent this morning to run Track and Field for the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, North Dakota.

He was supported by his father and mother Emiliano and Rhaechul and two sisters Abby and Izzy Granados.

Sierra Lutheran student-athlete named Gatorade Nevada Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year

In its 34th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company has announced Jared Marchegger of Sierra Lutheran High School as its 2018-19 Gatorade Nevada Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Marchegger is the second Gatorade Nevada Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Sierra Lutheran High School.

Dayton High School Spring sports registration for baseball, softball, field and track, boys golf has begun. Registrations must be complete on Register My Athlete by 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14. Current fall and winter athletes must register as well for a spring sport if they are participating.

Pioneer High School Scholar and Elite Spartan Athlete

For James Nair, consistency, effort, and determination have lead him to a number of successes. James, a senior at Pioneer High School through the Carson Online program, competed in the Spartan Race’s Sacramento Super and Sprint Weekend on Nov. 3-4 held at the Van Vleck Ranch.

Senator Square: Carson High School welcomes new National Honor Society members

National Honor Society President Eleanor Sturm made her opening remarks at the annual NHS induction ceremony Sept. 17 in the CHS Big Gym. Guest Speaker, Greater Nevada Credit Union Vice President Jenny Casselman then addressed the new NHS members and discussed what it means to be a part of such a fantastic organization and the responsibilities of being an NHS member.
