Okay. This is one of the hardest weekend lists I’ve ever had to do. This dump of snow has cancelled some events, but others are in full force. Best I can tell, St. Patrick’s Day parties are not deterred by a little snowfall. There will be no parade in Virginia City, but the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest is on. Head to downtown Carson for more green beer, Irish music, and corned beef and cabbage than you’ll know what to do with.

PPI will be holding open auditions for The Hit by Mike Buckley, this coming weekend! In her San Francisco antiques shop, Susan is anxiously anticipating a secret meeting with a hit man named Sam but when an unsuspecting travel agent named Sam shows up first, a seriously funny case of mistaken identities unfolds.

Come on down to the greatest indoor flea market this month as we are sold out of vendor spaces and that means over 40 vendors to choose from. Lots of antiques, collectibles, jewelry, knives, art, goodies and so much more. Always fun at the market. There is absolutely a little bit of everything this weekend. There’s somewhere to volunteer, somewhere to eat some fundraising pancakes, join in an Asian New Year Lion Dance Parade, Beer Crawl in downtown Carson City, and get your Zumba on. I think the eclectic mix of happenings is one of my favorite things about our corner of the world. Whether it’s the International Film Festival, the Vagina Monologues, or telescope viewing at the WNC Observatory: you can’t tell me there is nothing to do.

Sunny days in the fifties are okay for spring, but we still need some winter to come our way. Take advantage of the warmer weather during a Winter Hike along Carson Valley’s Pinion Trail with Muscle Powered. Song and dance kids will want to audition for the upcoming performance of ‘Willy Wonka, Jr.’ If you’re a fan of song, but possibly too old to join the Youth Theater Carson City cast, check out the monthly jam in Silver City at their historic School House. All instruments are welcome, in addition to vocalists and those who just want to listen.

The V&T Flea Market has arrived for a weekend stay Saturday in the Carson Colony Gym in Carson City.

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, vending tables full jewelry, a tools, crafts, collectibles, antiques, and souvenirs caught the eyes of many spectators and customers in attendance.

Brownies and cookies were also up for sale, filling hungry stomachs throughout the event.

The event continues Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

After back to back three-day weekends, this one may feel a little short. Grab onto the hours allotted and have a good time. The monthly downtown wine walk is a great way to catch up with friends after the bustle of the holiday season. The annual Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series offers the Winter Round-up 5 or 10K. If staying active is a resolution, then a brisk run in our hills fits the bill. For something less strenuous, you can join our Parks and Recreation Department for a Winter Wonderland Walk along the Carson River.

Suppose as a business owner, you decided you need a better desk. You know the entire cost of the desk can be a business expense with the cost all claimed in the year of purchase and when it was placed in service.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, you’ll see twinkling lights appearing everywhere. Carson City doesn’t light up our downtown until next Friday, but if you need an immediate fix of holiday decorations, Minden has got you covered. Candy Cane Lane at the Carson Valley Inn is a custom outdoor drive-thru Christmas light display. ‘Nevada Christmas’ is a private home on Chaparral Court, just off Stephanie Way, and puts the holly jollies into the holiday.

Once the turkey has been devoured, all thoughts turn toward shopping. Shop Small Saturday helps to throw a spotlight on our local gems, and the great gifts you’ll find. New this year is Museum Store Sunday with both the Nevada State Museum and the Nevada State Railroad Museum participating. Make time for family and friends at the annual Nutcracker Ballet performed by Pinkerton Ballet at the Carson City Community Center. Keep reading and have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

As a recent beneficiary of Nevada Housing Division’s Home is Possible grant assistance to firmly plant resident first-time homebuyers into Nevada soil, I found myself needing to take a fresh look at my old furniture in new rooms. To aid me in that endeavor, I looked up the new kid in town: Heather Leonard at Brown Bear Designs and Associates located at 1492 US-395, Suite 103, in Gardnerville. Delicious fall scents and soft music welcomed me through the door.

Once a month we hold a fabulous indoor flea market inside the large metal building at Fuji Park on Old Clear Creek road across from Costco in Carson City. Very comfortable inside while you browse the many vendors. This month we are sold out on vendor spaces so the variety of items for sale will be very large. Some weekends are pretty cut and dry, just a few things to choose among. This, however, is not one of those weekends. High-flying, death-defying action takes over the Minden Airport as the Aviation Roundup Air Show takes to the skies. Pasta-lovers won’t want to miss the Eldorado Great Italian Festival in downtown Reno. Carson City’s monthly Downtown Wine Walk gets a dose of nostalgia as the Western Airstream Convention sets up shop and welcomes the curious.

Enjoy these September days, it will be blustery and cold before we know it. Celebrate our neighbor to the east during their annual Dayton Valley Days street festival. Tour their museums, pan for gold, and enjoy samples at their Chili cook-off. Downtown Carson is a hotbed of fun tonight with two pub crawls and the Ghost Walk Haunted History Tour. The Carson City Historical Society's second and last flea market yard sale of the summer will be this Saturday at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum park.

Come on down to the flea market for a great time and find lots of treasures. We have the indoor market once a month inside the big metal building at Fuji Park Carson City across from Costco on Old Clear Creek Road. We are open Sat. Sept 9 From 8-4 and Sunday 9-4. You never know what you will find. But you will have a good time.

What are you in the mood for? The Third and Curry Farmers Market is always a great place to start off your weekend. Kids won’t mind getting up early for the Young Eagle airplane flights at the Carson City Airport – they are free of charge for kids 8 – 17, you just need to be on time for registration. The Annual Chili Cook-off returns to Glen Eagles this weekend; with live music, a craft fair, and lots of yummy stuff to eat, raising money for Honor Flight has never tasted so good. Keep reading, there is plenty more in store.

The Third and Curry Farmers Market returns this Saturday morning to its regular spot behind the McFadden Plaza. For the rest of the summer season, from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. the award-winning market brings all sorts of goodies to downtown Carson City.

The Carson City Historical Society will hold yard sales this year on July 8 and August 5. The Saturday only sales will be held at the Foreman-Roberts House park, 1207 N. Carson Street, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There is space still available for vendors of antiques, collectibles or crafts. The space rental is $25 which supports the Historical Society. The Historical Society will be selling antiques and collectibles from their collection. Donations for the Society to sell will be gladly accepted. Summer? Winter? Flip a coin. I could’ve guessed the rain was coming, my lilacs just started to bloom. Don’t let your parade get rained out though, downtown Carson will march right through this wet stuff. The early Spring Farmers Market debuts today behind Due Sorella at Nevada and Musser Streets. Grab the kids and enjoy today’s open house with free admission at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada. Stick around for the monthly Downtown Business Association wine walk and find something for Mothers’ Day at one of our wonderful local shops.
