Two Care Flight air ambulance helicopters were ordered and Carson City fire and ambulance responded to an injury accident in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 east located just west of the entrance to Pick-n-Pull, an area where there have been several injury accidents in the past. The accident happened around 2:20 p.m.
The rear-end collision is blocking the eastbound lane of traffic. At least two people are suffering injuries, according to arriving emergency personnel. Nevada Highway Patrol also responded as did Central Lyon County Fire Protection District.
Carson City Animal Services was also called after a report of a dog being hit by one of the vehicles involved.
Carson City patrol officers and NHP are re-directing traffic around the accident scene. Traffic in the eastbound lane was at a standstill as emergency crews arrived. Arriving helicopters will force the temporary closure of both east and westbound lanes.
