Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Woman caught in act of vehicle burglary

A 38 year-old woman was caught in the act of burglarizing a vehicle in the 4600 block of Arrowhead Drive shortly before noon Wednesday, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Chandra Demaranville-Stafford of Carson City was arrested at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday afternoon for felony burglary and possession of stolen property after deputies were called to the Arrowhead location on a vehicle burglary in progress, the arrest report said.

The reporting party (RP) witnessed the suspect in her vehicle, which had been parked in a parking lot of an area business, the report said.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies made contact with the RP, who reported the suspect was still inside her vehicle, the report said.

Deputies then made contact with Demaranville-Stafford, found still inside the vehicle, and detained her.

The suspect was found to be in possession of a receipt and a cancelled check that had been inside the RP's vehicle, the report said.

The RP reported to deputies that she witnessed Demaranville-Stafford putting items inside of her vehicle, the report said. Those items were later identified as belonging to another business in the 2900 block of Lockheed Way.

Deputies also determined that the suspect had parked another vehicle on the premises that was full of property belonging to other businesses in the area.

Some of the property had remained unclaimed at the time of the report, deputies said.

Demaranville-Stafford was taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail, where she was booked on one count of felony burglary and two counts of felony possession of stolen property. Bail: $25,000.

Ricardo Giron, 56, was arrested after three victims reported he had pointed a gun at them, the arrest report stated.

The incident developed over a dispute about discarded cigarette butts found on a neighbor's property, the report said.

When Giron was confronted about the butts, an argument ensued and the suspect then retrieved a large black revolver from a vehicle parked in his drive way, the report said.

All three victims reported that Giron held up a badge while pointing the firearm at them and waving it in the air, declaring "I got the badge," and "Now we are going to have a f---ing problem," the report said.

At that point, the three victims ducked behind the parked vehicle and one dialed 9-1-1.

Giron reportedly tucked the revolver into the front waistband of his pants afterward prior to the arrival of deputies, the report said.

Law enforcement detained and Mirandized Giron at the scene.

The suspect denied pointing or waving the firearm at the victims, the report said. Giron told deputies he only retrieved the gun in order to take it in the house with him.

Giron stated he had been snorting powdered sugar prior to the incident, the report said. Deputies reported finding evidence of "sugar snorting" in the home, according to the report, and observed that the suspect appeared to suffer from an unknown mental condition.

A .38 caliber "police special" revolver was recovered at the scene, the report said, along with what appeared to be a security badge and a live round of ammunition in Giron's pants pocket.

Giron was arrested on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Carson City Jail where he was booked. Bail: $20,000.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the area on a disturbance call. One of the parties involved was identified as having an active alternative sentence with a no drinking clause.

A slight odor of intoxicate substance was detected coming from the alternative sentencing subject, who denied having drank any alcohol, the report said.

The suspect, though, consented to a preliminary breath test (PBT), which showed BAC of .188 percent, the report said.

Dispatch notified the Department of Alternative Sentencing, which advised the arrest on violation of sentence, the report said.

The suspect was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,000.
