Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed after officers find gas siphoning equipment
A 35-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of being in violation of parole and probation after he was found to be in possession of gas cans and siphoning equipment, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The man was arrested at 1:15 a.m. in the area of Airport Road and Highway 50. He is being held without bail on the parole and probation violation and $2,500 bail on the possession of burglary tools charge, a gross misdemeanor.
According to the arrest report, a deputy on routine patrol observed a vehicle pull into a car wash at the intersection of Airport Road and Highway 50 East.
As the officer approached the vehicle, the man started the car and began to drive off. The officer noticed a red tub, which turned out to be a gas can, in the corner of the car wash. During the traffic stop the officer observed a strong odor of gasoline in the vehicle and a red gas can with tubes running out of it inside the car. The deputy told the man that he stopped him because it was 1 in the morning and the circumstances appeared to be suspicious.
The man told the deputy he was filling up his car with gas because he ran out. The officer asked the man why he had a second gas can on the floorboard and why it had tubes around it and running into it. The man said he didn’t do anything wrong and did not know why he was stopped. When the officer asked the man a question, the man would not give a straight answer and became uncooperative, according to the arrest report.
The deputy asked for the man’s identification. Dispatch advised he was on parole and probation. Dispatch contacted parole and probation because the man was uncooperative and his vehicle smelled like gasoline. The agency asked the man be arrested for suspicion of violation of terms and possession of burglary tools.
In other arrests: A 27-year-old Carson City woman, Shaunte Jones, was arrested Sunday, 5:37 p.m. in the 3000 block of Dale Drive on suspicion of felony prescription drug possession without a prescription and misdemeanor probation violation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area in reference to a domestic battery. Dispatch advised Jones was on scene and prohibited from being in the presence of a male subject who was with her. The reporting witness said the man was also a suspected who committed a domestic battery.
On arrival deputies met with Jones and the male subject in front of the residence while they were loading furniture into a moving truck. Both identified themselves. A deputy spoke with the victim and the reporting witness. They later declined to provide substantiating evidence of domestic battery.
The deputy advised dispatch that Jones was with the male in which the district attorney’s office had a court order that prohibited her from being with him. She was placed into custody. During a check of her purse a deputy found a pink pill container with 9 pills, Acetaminophen Hydrocone Bitartrate without a prescription. She was arrested for not having a prescription for the drugs, a felony.
