Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed for DUI, hit and run after truck crashes into casino
A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of DUI and hit and run after allegedly crashing his vehicle into an East William Street casino and then leaving the scene, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to the 2200 block of East William Street at 5:33 p.m. regarding a crash in which the vehicle hit the casino building. Dispatch advised that witnesses saw the suspect drive off in a dark pickup with Nevada license plates going eastbound on Highway 50. Witnesses were able to get a partial license plate number.
A variation of the license plate numbers returned to a pickup in the area of Knoblock Lane in Carson City. A deputy responded to the location and found the pickup in the driveway and a man attempting to exit the vehicle. The man was unsteady on his feet and kept grabbing the vehicle to maintain his balance, according to the arrest report.
The officer asked the man if they could talk. The man turned toward the officer and stated: “yes about Dottys,” the arrest report states. He then took off his jacket and threw it to the ground. A single key left the pocket of the jacket that later unlocked the driver’s side of the truck. The officer detained the man, who had “an overwhelming odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his person,” the arrest report states.
Deputies examined the front of the pickup and saw extensive damage and shards of glass stuck in between the license plate and the plate holder. While talking with deputies, the man stated he would pay for the damage at Dottys. The damages to the vehicle appeared to match those found on the building, the arrest report states.
The man stated he would not do any testing or answer any questions and refused to submit to a field sobriety test. As he was being taken to jail the man told the arresting officer he would do a blood test. At jail he was read the Nevada Implied Consent law where the man said he would not consent and told the officer to get a warrant, the arrest report states. A warrant was approved and a blood draw was taken. Bail: $1,174.
A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Friday, 1:21 a.m. in the area of Research and College Parkway on suspicion of DUI and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. According to the arrest report, the man was driving without headlights going east on College Parkway.
The officer made a traffic stop and smelled a moderate odor of alcohol coming from the driver. The man had a small transparent container with marijuana in his lap and an open Budweiser can on the driver’s floorboard. He performed field sobriety tests unsatisfactorily and had a preliminary breath test of .155. At jail he had evidentiary breath tests of .150 and .156. Bail: $1,874.
— A 41-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 2:10 p.m. in the 300 block of Tahoe Drive on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear and driving on a suspended license. Bail: $1,592.
