Carson City sheriff’s crime log: Man jailed for home invasion, assault at apartment complex
A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for felony home invasion after allegedly kicking in the door of one apartment and assaulting a resident in another, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Scott Mcray Gibbons, was taken into custody at an apartment complex on 20 College Parkway. He was also booked on a misdemeanor assault charge. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area regarding an intoxicated man breaking into occupied apartments. One resident told dispatch they had armed themselves with a knife for their protection.
Witnesses in one unit stated Gibbons knocked on their door and when they answered it, he forced his way into the apartment claiming that he was in the Army. The witnesses told deputies the man stood in the apartment and talked “nonsense” and admitted that he was “wasted.” One of the residents went into a room and called 911. Gibbons was asked to leave and he complied.
Deputies learned Gibbons then allegedly knocked on the door of another unit and assaulted the resident. The victim told deputies the man knocked on the door and asked for “Brooke.” When he was told a Brooke didn’t live there, he insisted the person was there. The man allegedly then flashed a military ID and then hit the resident, calling her a “whore” and stated she “needed to be bent,” the arrest report states.
After the suspect left the second unit, he returned again to the original apartment, knocked on the door and then kicked it in to make entry, causing damage to the door. Gibbons then began to walk through the apartment while looking for “Brooke.” The couple left the apartment as deputies arrived.
The suspect was asked by sheriff’s deputies to step outside the apartment where he refused at first then was non aggressively compliant with commands, and escorted out of the apartment. He then became passively non-compliant and had to be escorted down the apartment stairs and into a patrol vehicle where he was taken to jail. Bail: $25,500.
