Carson City arrests: Pair who gave deputy false names jailed after drugs found in car

A traffic stop Thursday night led to the arrests of two men and the recovery of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Logan Wetzel, 27, was arrested at 9 p.m. in the area of Condor and Mockingbird streets. He faces two counts felony possession of a controlled substance, using false identification and three misdemeanors: violation of a suspended sentence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a stop sign violation.

Also arrested was Michael Madore, 25, of Carson City, for felony suspicion of using false identification.

According to the arrest report, a deputy assigned with the Carson City Special Enforcement team was patrolling the area of Edmonds and Brown Street. He observed a four-door sedan failing to stop at a posted stop sign at Edmonds and Fairview.

The officer made a traffic stop and identified himself as a deputy sheriff. The driver identified himself with a different name and date of birth and Social Security number, the arrest report states. Two male passengers were also contacted with Madore offering a different name and date of birth. A third man identified himself with a Nevada ID card.

A K9 unit was requested and the dog alerted positive to the exterior of the vehicle. During the vehicle search the officer located “tooter” straws that are commonly used to inhale narcotics, tinfoil with burnt black residue presumed to be heroin, an eyeglass cloth case with a marijuana pipe and residue, a clear plastic container with methamphetamine, a green metal pill container with marijuana, clear plastic baggies with brown sticky substance identified as marjuana with a high THC concentration and two small baggies with methamphetamine.

Logan Wentzel claimed ownership of all the drugs and paraphernalia found in the vehicle and admitted to using another name. Bail for Wentzel: $12,249. Bail for Madore: $5,000.

In other arrests:
— A 51-year-old Carson City woman, Karry Lynn Tackett, was arrested Wednesday, in the 1200 block of Woodside Drive, for felony suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. According to the arrest report, the suspect was in the area where there are reports of recent drug activity.

The deputy observed Tackett and another woman look into windows and attempt to open the doors of a red pickup that didn't belong to them. The officer identified himself and the women walked away. The deputy asked the woman if she had any drugs or weapons on her person.

Tackett stated she didn’t and allows the officer to search her. During the search the officer found a red box of cigarettes inside a pocket. Inside contained a clear plastic baggie with a small amount of methamphetamine. Without prompting the woman told the officer “it is only a small amount of meth that I paid $25 for.” She was taken into custody. Bail: $2,500.

— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 10:07 a.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant. Bail: $3,000.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man already booked in jail had an additional charge added Friday, a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $175.
