Horvath named president of Brewery Arts Center Board of Directors
J Kyle Horvath, social media director of the Carson City Visitors Bureau, is now president of the Brewery Arts Center Board of Directors.
Chris Bayer, who was the president, stepped down from the board. The BAC has faced serious financial hardships this year, in which its executive director, John Shelton, was laid off. His family members, who also worked for the BAC, left when Shelton was let go Aug. 26.
In a post on Facebook Wednesday, Horvath made the announcement, saying "While I am taking over during an obvious time of turmoil and continual transition, I feel confident that with some organization, a fresh new website, innovative events, and continual community outreach, the board that we have and the volunteers who work tirelessly for us will be successful at reaching our goal."
He notes BAC is the largest campus art organization in Northern Nevada. It offers an array of services for artists, 3 performance spaces, classes for all ages, as well as a media center responsible for documenting the city's government meetings.
He said his goals are to create an art organization that effectively serves the artist and art advocates of Nevada, Creating a authentic experience for visitors to the campus, and fostering pride throughout the community for our artistic culture in Carson City.
"I am very excited about the future of the BAC. I hope to have your support in accomplishing this," said Horvath
