Capital Quilters donates nearly 100 quilts for babies born at Carson Tahoe Health
In celebrating the holiday season, the 28-member Capital Quilters group generously donated handmade quilts that will be given to all babies born at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center during the month of December.
“We originally thought we would be donating 20 - 30 quilts and were stunned to find out that average monthly births exceed that and [the month of] December usually has the highest number of births,” said Rochelle Summers, a member of Capital Quilts. “But our members stepped up and we accepted quilt [material] donations starting in July.”
Capital Quilters was excited to have the opportunity to provide cozy blankets and bring holiday cheer to families as they welcome their newborns into the world.
“As Northern Nevada’s only Baby-Friendly designated hospital, Carson Tahoe is dedicated to providing the best possible birthing experience for families in our community,” said Michelle Joy, Chief Operations Officer at Carson Tahoe Health. “We are grateful for the caring members of Capital Quilters for going above and beyond to make a special time even more memorable in the midst of the holiday season.”
Capital Quilters also donates quilts to the Ron Wood Family Resources center on a regular basis, as well as to other organizations as needed. The group is always accepting fabric donations, and new members are welcome.
