Bosco the black Lab missing for three weeks returns safe to Carson City home
Bosco, a seven-year-old black Lab who had been missing since Nov. 8, made it back to his Carson City home and family early Saturday morning.
The dog arrived at the doorstep of the Robinson family's Century Circle home with the help of a neighbor who saw him and guided him to the door, said Kayleigh Robinson, who owns the family dog and was one of many responsible for an exhaustive 21-day effort to find him.
Arriving in time for Thanksgiving leftovers, Bosco lost about 20 pounds and was "super skinny," when he came through the door, she said. Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital in Carson City treated the dog this morning, checking him out to make sure he was OK. Other than losing the weight, being hungry and a scuff along his chest the dog checked out OK, said Robinson.
Bosco wore a blue collar with tags and went missing on Friday night, Nov. 8, in the housing unit behind the 7-Eleven on the northeast end of Carson City.
Robinson said the neighbor saw the dog walking down the street and recognized him at around 7:30 a.m. The neighbor then walked the dog over to the home.
Kayleigh's Mom heard a single bark from the dog and his tail wagging up against the side of the home. She looked out the window and knew then it was Bosco.
"If dogs could talk I'm sure he'd say 'Thank God I'm home safe,'" said Robinson. "If dogs could talk I would want to know what he's been up to the past 21 days. Was he roaming all this time? Did someone take him in and couldn't handle him anymore and dropped him off? It's really hard to say."
Kayleigh said the family is very appreciative of the Carson City community for its help in searching for the dog.
"We appreciate every last person who has called, who has shared and who has spread the word about him," she said. "Thanks doesn't even begin to show our appreciation. We know without those out there spreading the word he probably wouldn't be home right now."
To pet owners who have lost their animals, Kayleigh said the best thing to do is to keep on looking and never give up. She encouraged families to put up fliers with telephone numbers and use support networks online like Missing Pets Carson City, Facebook and Craigslist.
