Carson City sheriff’s log: Intoxicated man jailed on felony assault with gun charge
A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday in the area of Concord and Nye streets on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly pointing a gun at a man and then firing it into the pavement.
Richard Woodward is being held on $21,774 bail. He was also charged with misdemeanor discharging a firearm in public and being an intoxicated person with a firearm.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 2900 block of East Nye Lane for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival an officer made contact with other deputies on scene who had the man detained. The officer made contact with a witness who stated Woodward had pointed a gun at him and then fired a round into the asphalt. The witness stated the suspect had been drinking. Deputies found a casing of a dispensed round as well as what appeared to be an impact point of the round in the area the witness said the event took place, the arrest report states.
The deputy who detained Woodward said the suspect had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Officers were able to locate a gun in the yard of the suspect’s property. He was taken into custody at 7:34 p.m. Woodward refused to give a statement regarding his side of the story. He was taken to jail where he voluntarily submitted to a evidentiary breath tests with results of .183 and .188, the arrest report states.

— A 27-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 4:08 a.m. in the 1100 block of Woodside Drive on a misdemeanor warrant issued Aug. 19, 2015 out of Reno Municipal Court. Bail: $1,628.
— A 25-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Wednesday, on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of probation conditions issued Oct. 22, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
