Carson City man arrested on warrant after girlfriend locked him in garage during argument
A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning for a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation after his girlfriend sent a family member text messages that said “help me” and “call the police,” a sheriff's deputy report states.
According to the report, deputies were en-route to the address when the reporting party advised she received the text messages from a family member, who advised the messages came from a woman who lived with her boyfriend and their three children at an east Carson City residence.
Upon arrival, deputies could hear a male subject yelling and “punching unknown items,” the report states. Deputies were able to see inside the garage of the house where they could see a male who was yelling through a closed door and punching the door. The male was the only person in the garage.
Deputies could also see a woman through the kitchen window, who they made contact with. The woman identified herself and advised that her boyfriend was drunk and they had been arguing over their children.
The girlfriend stated he was trying to take their kids and leave the house, and when she said she wouldn’t let him take the kids, he became aggressive. She advised he did not hit her or the children during the argument. She confirmed he was locked inside of the garage.
When deputies went into the garage, they couldn’t find him immediately. They finally located him lying on his stomach under a car. He had to be instructed twice to come out from under the vehicle with his hands in the air. He complied and was placed in handcuffs, the report states.
Dispatch confirmed the man had a DAS violation warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court on May 16.
While a search of his person was performed, the man tried multiple times to spit on law enforcement. Bail: $3,000 cash only.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 1700 block of Brown Street Friday evening for DUI first following a report of a vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the man who advised he had been driving north on Brown Street when he observed a white Chevy SUV parked in his lane of travel, impeding traffic. He stated he attempted to go around the vehicle but there was not enough room due to oncoming traffic, and he hit the Chevy.
He said he then drove down the road to see if his truck would still drive. Deputies observed the Chevy parked in the north bound travel lane, facing south.
While deputies spoke with the man they noted they could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming form his person and he had red and watery eyes. He told deputies he had had a couple of drinks earlier in the day. He agreed to perform a series of field sobriety tests, during which he showed multiple signs of impairment, the report states. A preliminary breath test resulted in a .212 percent BAC.
He was taken into custody without issue. Bail: $1,137.
