Driver suspected in Wisconsin parade rampage was convicted of sex crime in Washoe County

The man suspected of killing five people and injuring 50 others after allegedly plowing through a Christmas parade Sunday in Waukesha, Wis., was convicted in Washoe County in 2006 of felony statutory sexual seduction, according to a Nevada sex offender database.

Darrell Edward Brooks, 39, was convicted Nov. 1, 2006 in Second Judicial District Court, Washoe County for the crime, that happened in Sparks, according to nvsexoffenders.gov. According to the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Brooks was under the supervision of Sparks Police Department until 2007.

The website lists Brooks as being incarcerated in Waukesha, Wis.

According to the Milwaukee Journal, police expect to refer five counts of first-degree intentional homicide and additional charges to prosecutors. The penalty for first-degree intentional homicide is a mandatory life prison sentence.

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports there was a fatal crash Monday evening involving a pedestrian in the area of Highway 50 and Red Rock in Mound House, east of Carson City.
