While responding, dispatch advised the male subject was heard on the phone telling a woman “you’re about to get real hurt.”

The officer detained the man by placing him in handcuffs and spoke with him outside while the deputy spoke with his mother inside the residence.
Because the man was detained, the officer read him his Miranda rights and the suspect agreed to speak. He stated he was in a verbal argument with his mother. He stated the argument was over paying rent because they live together. He stated the argument was verbal only. The officer observed no signs of battery on the man.
Dispatch advised the man had a confirmed warrant out of Carson City Justice Court for contempt of court. The deputy advised the man that he had battered his mother on her arm. The man was advised he was under arrest for domestic battery and the warrant. The man then told the officer he grabbed his mother’s arm. He was taken to jail. A review of his criminal history shows he had a prior conviction for domestic battery, May 14, 2013. Bail: $8,137.
