Family TIES of Nevada Appoints New Executive Director
Family TIES of Nevada announced today that it has appointed Melanie Kauffman as its new Executive Director. Ms. Kauffman will oversee the organization’s operations, achievement of its mission, and strategic planning objectives.
Family TIES of Nevada is dedicated to increasing the hope, confidence and independence of people with disabilities and chronic health conditions through training, information, support and advocacy.
In the upcoming year Family TIES will recognize its 10th anniversary as a non-profit, and will focus its efforts on building community awareness about the myriad of issues facing children, youth and adults with special health care needs in Nevada.
“We are pleased to welcome Melanie Kauffman to the Family TIES organization," said Board President, Becky Carter-Steele. "With her impressive background in non-profit management, fund development and program services, her demonstrated leadership will be a tremendous benefit as we prepare to move Family TIES of Nevada to the next level of development.”
With more than 15 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Ms. Kauffman was formerly the executive director of the start-up non-profit Sierra Senior Services. There she helped lead a community campaign to ensure the viability of a regional home-delivered and congregate meals program for elderly and disabled adults.
Her leadership efforts also helped sustain other well known non-profits, such as Tahoe Women's Services, Arts For the Schools and the Family Resource Center of Truckee.
“I look forward to working with the board and staff, and am thrilled to be part of the Family TIES team of family leaders and community professionals who are devoted to ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive the necessary care, services and support which will improve their health and quality of life,” Kauffman said.
