Douglas County Sheriff's Office issues warning following multiple vehicle burglaries, thefts

During the evening of November 18, 2021 into the morning of November 19th, 2021, there were 12 vehicle burglaries and three stolen vehicles in the Gardnerville/Minden/Topaz area.

All vehicles were unlocked and the vehicles that were stolen, keys were left inside the vehicle.

We have recovered 2 of the 3 stolen vehicles. Please lock your vehicles and do not leave your keys inside your vehicle when it is unattended.

We live in a safe place, but we need to prevent crimes of opportunity by locking up our valuables.

There is no suspect information at this time. The Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division is working on this case.

An American Indian tribe with deep roots in the Lake Tahoe basin is seeking to reclaim land that’s part of a Nevada resort area. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California wants to ask Congress for nearly 375 acres of federal land in Incline Village.

CARSON CITY — Beginning Monday, May 7, single lane closures will be in place on U.S. 50 near Cave Rock at Lake Tahoe as the Nevada Department of Transportation completes roadside slope repairs.

UPDATE 9:15PM: The suicidal subject returned to safety at ground level of the parking structure and made contact with Sheriff's deputies. Firefighter-paramedics were able to stand down.

Carson City Fire Department and Sheriff's deputies are on scene of the Ormsby House, where a suicidal subject is threatening to jump from the top of the parking garage, Carson City Emergency Dispatch has reported.

First responders are attempting to make contact with the subject. Care Flight has been contacted to stage in the area.

A 24 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 4:10 a.m. in the area of U.S. Highway 395 South and Topsy Lane on multiple misdemeanor offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including hit and run, first offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, failure to yield, no driver's license and driving without headlights.

Sheep brought in each Spring to graze on Carson City's west side are still working to consume grasses, shrubs and other fire fuels along the northwest side of C Hill just above Kings Canyon Road.

Waiting to turn left onto Fifth from Carson Street Friday afternoon, I asked myself, "Why am I sitting through five light changes?"

For the 2017-2018 school year, a staff of 47 was dedicated to making a memorable book for others to keep throughout their lives and be passed down through generations; and again the book received the Gallery of Excellence Award, in which the book is used as an example of a successful yearbook in schools and at conferences across the country.

UPDATE: 3:00PM: The quad rider has been located about a half mile north of Horsepower Hill and is being escorted out by first responders, who report the victim is conscious, breathing and alert.
Care Flight arrived at the scene, but ground ambulance standing by on Sedge Road will be providing ground transport for the patient.

Carson City Fire Department and Sheriff's deputies are responding to the area of Brunswick Canyon on report of an off-road quad accident.
